Run OEM 886 for a few months before adding bumper?

    Any OME coils you buy now will be the " x" version , which is the newer version of the coils .

    OME ( ARB ) changed the way they make them so they are more resistant to sagging than the older versions of the coils

    All the new stock is the "x" version , so that is probably what you will get I would think

    I got my new 886X. I love them , I'm sitting higher that with the 886. Where nice ride also.

    Stock front bumper or bumper and winch?

    I am DC, SB . I have bumper,winch and skid plate. I'm not sure what's my high from stock but I'm sitting 1/2" higher that regular 886. They can handel the weight better and the ride is very nice offroad. On the road I have some vibrations at 60-65 mph.

    I went a good 8 months with the 886s before putting on an off road bumper then another 14 months before a winch. Everything was fine.

    btw, I went from 884s to 886s and didn't notice a ride difference, so I imagine the 885s not feeling any different

    I was at a local dealership and did some measurements. With my setup and that extra weight I'm over all 4 1/2" higher than a stock Tacoma(in the front). Probably OME shocks with 886X on a stock Tacoma will give you 4". After adding Bumper , winch and skids will get you at 3". If you want more height, add a top plate like I did.

    Ground to fender. For me is hard to measure hub to fender. I don't think there is a diffrence.

    On my truck I have the following set up: 285/75/16 with OME shock with 886x and top plate. From ground to fender I'm at 38" 7/8. The same car with the Trd shocks and 265/70/16 it's sitting at 34" 1/4.

    Yep , my point is , of your 4 1/2" in height difference , approx 1" of it is in tires , so your lift set up is getting you approx 3 1/2"

    Measuring hub to fender eliminates tire size difference from the equation

    I too had a top plate spacer on my 886s briefly (I prev. had the 884s with top plate spacer, then upgraded to the 886s and wanted to keep the spacer on). But one of my CVs popped because the angle was all jacked up. Are you sure you're ok with 3 1/2" lift?

    YES! I'm very happy with the ride. That extra 1/2" helps in my case. My rims are 9" wide and to much offset and I had a lot off rubing, but now I am better.
