What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Installed my URD short-shifter today! It seems a bit stiffer, but the throws are much, much shorter!

 

Installed my Bakflip G2 tonight..... looks pretty sweet and only took 35 minutes. Will upload pictures in the morning

 

Awesome. Thanks. I was thinking maybe I could pull the crap out without ripping into the dash.... Guess I need to look into this.

 

Where did you got the gauge cover?

I had the same thought...until I really looked at it and realized there's no way. Because it's behind two layers of fins, and the entire back side of the foam is sticky (just not sticky enough to keep it where it belongs ), I think it would be virtually impossible to pull out through the vent.

Pulling the dash is only 4 10mm screws and the rest is plastic push clips and pins. It took about 20 minutes to get it apart due to clips that didn't want to budge and about 2 minutes to put it back together. I didn't even have to unplug anything and just let it all rest on the shifter while I worked the dash.

One thing I would recommend before pulling that much dash apart is picking up a few extra yellow/white plastic dash clips from the stealership. I've lost them inside the dash many times. They've always turned up later (under the plastic shifter surround), but it's nice to be able to put it back together and worry about them another day.

 

Installed my Pioneer AVIC F700BT Navi/iPod interface HU. Also found a nifty spot to put the wired microphone.

 

You can remove it with a long pair of tweezers and patience. Just work slow and take your time. Fold the sticky side toward itself until you get it rolled up and it will pull out. I did one in a friends Tacoma a few weeks ago. Easier than removing the dash with all the associated rattles that will develop.

 

I have a 350 budget
I can't decide between black tail lights or a chip, or a hood scoop ( dealership said it'd be 185+tax)
Any ideas?

 

I say most people who know will tell you a chip is nothing but a waste of cash. Personally I'd look into the hood skewp. But at that price I'm sure it comes unpainted.

 

I'm gonna have to look into removing the foam from my vents as well...especially having a black truck in the desert.

Dunno if you have the BirdsEye subscription, but if so, make sure you transfer everything to the GPS while it's still active. I just got fracked by Garmin on this. I have some satellite images on my computer that I can't put on the GPS because my subscription expired. I have to pay for an entire new year's worth just to move 10 images--that I already paid for.

 

I was gonna do some white and red and get an umbrella corp thing goin. lol

 

used it to pick up my DWreck Sliders, dropping them off tomorrow for powder coating

The little push button releases the air in the tank.

 

For that price you can prolly get both the tails and skewp. I got my black tails on ebay for 125 shipped.
