This is the main reason I'm buying it.

So does it read and display any TPMS units in range and allow you to register them, or is a separate "box" still needed to wake the sensors and read their serial numbers?

Can this be used to "update" my '08 to read only the 4 sensors instead of 5?

1st. You'll need to unmount the tires, and type down your sensors serial number.

2nd. No, you will not be able to make it read only 4, you'll have to program all 5 sensors.

If you never replaced any sensor but the light is still on, you can reset the sensors using the techstream.

    Ahh...
My light is flashing for a while then goes solid. I've never swapped the sensors, but I bought the truck used from a non-Toyota dealer, and I suspect that the spare is not the original (hub fits SUPER tight). I'm thinking that a 1st Gen spare got slapped under there with a random sensor, but really no way of knowing.

2008, could just be dead sensors/batteries.

Does it allow you to log the sensors for playback?

I would first try to reset them with techstream.

If you need help with that PM me and I can try to guide you by phone.

Could I log the short term and long term fuel adaptives?

Disclaimer: Not sure if that's what the PID's are called for Toyota.

    Stock for now
The techstream menu interface I had for the tundra had 5 spots for sensors codes.
This was in line with the FSM posted online with NCTTORA.

I had my 4 original sensor codes off my factory steel wheels.
When I bought my RW wheels & tires, the tpms were already installed.
The tire shop read the codes w/ their handheld scanner tool without breaking them down.
I asked them to give me the codes as well.
Now it is plug in obdc attached to laptop, fire up software, make changes.

There were guys at TT that reported different menus between model years in the tundras & also some of those who tried it on 1GEN vs 2GEN tacomas.

Anyone in VT who want to try it on their tacoma I would gladly meet them & let them see how they like it. At tundratalk they started a thread like that offering locality use.

My tire shop was able to read my codes without breaking down the tire. They could give you the four you have, then,
if techstream works the same for the tacoma as it did in my tundra, eliminate the code that is no longer present

Easy fix if you own a tire machine or have the desire to pay a shop to break it down, then remount after you take it home and replace the battery.

If it's a bad sensor, I'm just going to disable the system until I get new rims.

Can you turn off the TPMS (disable) or at least put the same code on all 5 wheels. I changed my wheels, no TPMS in them. Thought on maybe just mounting one sensor in the spare tire and register all 5 with the same sensor number.

I'm not sure if you can set the same code for all 5 wheels. But it sounds 'doable'

No, there's no way to disable this. Remember now its required to have tpms on new cars.

Ok - got mine, but very confused trying to install the software. The instructions don't make much sense on how to register it? Any help would be very appreciated :)

Before you run the software copy the " getpeculiarid.dll " file from the Easyway ... folder into the C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\bin folder over writing the original file. Then start the software and use one of the included keys listed in the text file to register.
