Keep what you have, you know how it's been treated.

Edit to add: after looking at the website I can say, I paid less than that for my 2012 TRD Sport Prerunner brand new. I'm sure prices vary by region but not by that much. Remember, as a buyer you're in the drivers seat,

My husband was just asking me why I want a DC. He says I don't take people around in my truck....and that I know the history of my own truck and as picky as I am, I don't know what that truck went through or how the owner treated it. So yes, you are right, Doc and Boerseun.

    *sigh*

I haven't even test driven it yet. I was there for half an hour opening doors and the hood and not one sales person came out to see what I was doing. Their used lot was so full, this truck was parked out on the street. You would think they saw me in there with the hood up.

I was just trying to feel around for opinions before I even talk to someone.

    neglect, mostly.
i took a screen shot of the truck for you :)

add to OP if you would like too. when i screen shot stuff through my windows program "snipping tool" it's not very great resolution, but if you want to copy this link, you're welcome to. im obviously hosting it in my photobucket, but you can steal it if you'd like haha.

    i named it "babytruckmaybetruck" :D

and i don't have an opinion yet. i do like the way the truck looks, but as the others and you have said, it would be hard to part with your well loved babytruck.

No, 4WD just allows the front-heavy Taco to behave similar to FWD cars in the rain. Taco in RWD is more likely to fishtail than a Camry.

I wasn't able to look at the pictures on my phone, but my gut would be to keep looking... Maybe you can find a better specimen to trade for.

Going from super clean to work truck condition you won't be super happy.

While I don't necessarily wheel like some people do. My truck gets used fairly hard and consistently. It's great and it is holding up well no negatives,but... You can tell I use it more than average. Not a weekend goes by where it's not loaded or carrying me down a rough road to a fishing hole. Rides great and runs great but it doesn't feel like new.

It may not be the case with this blue truck. But if it has been consistently loaded and driven in a manor that tears off mud flaps. It probably won't feel nice and new like yours. Things start to creak and loosen up. A test ride down a bumpy road with the tunes off will be a good indicator!

babytruck, I know that this is "the truck" you have wanted, but I do not think the truck you looking at is a good choice. The dealer will take you to the proverbial woodshed in dealing with you. Walk away.

Keep what you got! I would have preferred a DC over my AC also, but honestly, I never would use my back seat. The FEW times someone is sitting back there, its for very short distances, so its not a big deal anyway. I love my AC, love the looks, size (smaller than DC with long bed), etc. I have the 4x4, and also dont ever use it, but it will be good for resale value.

Have you looked around for other DCs in your area? That price seems insanely high!

I don't see how a thread of subjective banter over coler and space is going to help your decision. Go with what makes you happy.

    THIS ......

Like boerseun said. If u feel like u traded down you will never be happy.
IMO you would be. Your truck is mint.

The only way u would be satisfied is new out of the box and put your touch on it.

Unless it's a major DC issue that u need it, pass.....

Thank you. I edited the OP. I appreciate it. :)

You are right. I may not be happy going from clean to obviously used. Just looked at the carfax and this car was used by the 2nd owner as a commercial vehicle. I'm wondering if it was turned in because the warranty expired.

No I have not looked at other DCs. I wasn't intending to. I was just waiting for my SUV to be done with servicing and this truck was sitting across the street at another dealer. I just mosey'd on over there to kill time.

But the bolded part in your post, you are right. You are absolutely right. I never have anyone in the back, I just thought it might be nice in case I need to. And the 4x4 would be good for resale. You are very right on about this. Thank you

The more I look at the pictures in the link, the more I can see the scratches (perhaps because I know where they are and I'm looking for them?) and that keeps me wondering if the truck was treated well. There is no real warranty so I would be buying someone else's problems that would not be covered.

You are right on the button here. That's exactly how I am. And I don't NEED a DC. Thank you.
    __________________________________________

Thank you all for pointing these things out for me, I think the point of seeing one that could have been a possibility (when last year it wasn't) got me excited.

I don't have any problem with the color of my truck, it's just that before I even knew Barcelona Red existed (I thought there was only Radiant Red) I liked this blue. I love the Barcelona red though, I like metallic paints.

I guess it was like a dream that finally came to my doorstep, knocking on the door. But when I opened the door, it's just not that beautiful any more, with how "used" it is...

Thanks everyone. I think I'll keep my babytruck. :)

I say keep your Barcelona Red. You've added some nice touches. When I bought back last October I saw the same base model (but in a double cab - long bed) and thought "that has possibilities", but opted for the SR-5 model in silver (DCSB) after thinking how the snow/ice/salt could make it look dirty all the time in NY winters. Now after seeing how nice yours is, I'm having second thoughts on my decision. Why are you taunting me with a great looking base model?!

sometimes you gotta go backwards to get what you want. thats what i did with my truck, had a 2011 reg cab 4x4, traded in for my 08 DCSB TRD O/R and couldnt be happier. my 08 has actually been more bullet proof for me than my 2011. i think some trucks are better than others even though they are spec'd the same. just have to drive em and find out. before i got my truck i had a 2011 DCSB v6 SR5 with 2600 miles as a rental. it was a pile of shit.

I haven't even seen your cute truck in person yet, how can you trade it in:D. For me, it would come down to the $$$. It all depends on what you owe on the truck(if anything at all, BALLER!), what they would give for your truck and how much you would have to put on top.

Generally speaking, it's always best to get what you want IN THE FIRST PLACE, lol;). However, like most things it comes down to the dollars and cents. I want a 2nd double cab short bed so bad, but I'm attached to my 1st gen since it was bought new by my dad.

Life is too short, do what makes you happy and come off-roading with us.

Personally I wouldnt make that trade. It's the color you want, but that sounds like the only plus in an otherwise poor trade. Dirty, high mileage, older, 4x2, uncertain maintenance work. On the other hand yours in newer, clean, 4x4, and very low mileage. Plus you have the emotional connection of having owned it for some time. Keep the babytruck!

I'm babytrucks only owner. And I paid him off before I took delivery. So I don't owe anything.

And Vin, in order to come off roading, I need a 4x4....

If it's paid off, I would advise you to keep the baby. If you must have a SWB double cab long bed, you're better off selling your truck(private sale) and look for a low mileage one with the specs you want(4x4 so you can off-road with us;)).

I'm voting NO on this trade.

Yeah I think y'all helped me decide. I love my babytruck too much and I don't NEED a double cab. That truck is not as clean as mine and I know that I would feel it a down grade.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I'm very happy for all of your help. :) Vin, maybe I'll see you on the 16th at the get together?
