I'm living in a hotel for the next 3 weeks and there isn't a fitness center. I'm running on the Insanity work out DVD's and I brought my own blender and a 6lb bag of protein power. :D

sean told me to get more carbs before the gym, and like you, I always found it tough to eat right before the gym. I'm used to it now, I'll eat 60 to 80 grams of carbs before hitting the gym, and my energy level is through the roof! you'll get used to the feeling of it I think. Bagels are a great way to get carbs in the morning, usually are about 36 grams for a bagel.

I would suggest you give it half hour before you are actually working out though.

Any one have any tips on how to build explosive speed for short burst and how to trim 40 sec times besides the basic running? Any drills, lifts, ect?

I'll give it a shot. Try the bagels before hand and then a protein shake and banana or something afterwards on my way in to work. Thanks for the info.

Plyo work is great and easy to do if your basic strength is there....clapping push ups, clapping pull ups, squat jumps, lunge jumps and box jumps!

Sprints, especially hills.....make them shorter in duration and highest output possible with lots of rest!

OLY lifting would be the best long term but should be done under the guidance of a trainer!

I was thinking a lot of the same stuff.

I want to do those things but the head coach never listens to me. His loss. The only thing they do is pushups and there is twenty different variations at one time from twenty different players. He refuse to make them all do the same thing...

They do run hills like crazy.

OLY Lifting is something I have been pushing him to do for a while and I think he is going to start doing it in the off season.

Keeping things basic seem to work best for me! There's the 80/20 rule.....you get 80% of your results from 20% of the work! Keep it basic and in line with the goal. It doesn't need to be an elaborate complex program to be effective!

Started out with my dad but he got cramped up right before the hardest part and decided to stay at the campground below the key hole. I went on and hit the summit alone :( but I also got a few cramps on the way down back to the key hole from the summit. Left groin/ham and both inner quads. Put the pain on the back burner and kept safety first. Gotta keep that winners mindset.
