how weird i was just wondering this last night. id like to switch mine to blue but i dont know if the bulb is what gives off the color or just the color it seems to give up, being as the numbers and lines the light shines though are colored orange, same with a/c controls and what not.

i tried doing a search but so much other random crap came up with the results so i dont know.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I had to change the bulbs in mine ( two) and getting that dash off is a royal pain in the ass. But the color is from a little green transparent rubber sock that covers the bulbs. Thus if you change to blue or red, it'll look blue or red through the speedometer.

i havent even looked at mine yet but is that rubber sock needed? is that what keeps the bulb mounted in?

also the last part of your message doesnt make sense. wouldnt it be a different color coming through the speedometer?? did you mean it say it WONT look blue or red?

you know if the 04s have the exact same cluster as yours a 96?

Sorry about that. I was pretty un-specific. What I mean is that the light bulbs mounted in the dash have these transparent green "rubbers" stuck on them. The bulbs are clear, but the rubbers make them green. If you remove them, then the lights could appear to be white instead. I'm not sure about the newer Tacos. The last version of the "old" taco looked about the same inside if I recall.

Oh- and here's a few tips. You don't need to remove the cluster. I just pulled mine forward. The bulbs are twist-locked into the back of the panel via little plastic sockets that come out in one piece. You just feel for them and turn them and then pull them out. Otherwise, getting that cluster out would be a nightmare.

I have my shifter knob, and my gauge lights blue. it looks awesome, but I would suggest if anyone does it the get 5 or 6 LED brightness. i have 4, and i wish it was brighter.. and you CAN dim them. I would say just do it. but it is a bitch getting the dash apart the first time, but after youve done it once, youll be able to change the lights out in like 30 mins.
