I ran across a quote similar to this a while back. It sums up my view on religion and the people that follow it.

I can agree with you there! A good amount of time away from people out in nature always helps me. I can't deal with the people that say their way is the only way either. Logically speaking if they ALL say their way is the only way/their god is the only god, then they are all wrong. :D And that's what drives me away from any sort of organized religion. I don't handle arrogant people very well.

I call myself a Christian. I do not and have no plans to attend any major denomination. I don't think they are very trustworthy or Christian when you look at what they do and what they have done. Like my grandfather siad, "he was as close to God in his front pasture as he had ever been in a church"

Your grandfather was a wise man. I've never understood how sitting in a church made you closer to God than being outside enjoying his creation.

And I've also always never understood why God had any need for money. People using God's name always need our money, but God himself probably doesn't have any bills to pay.

Still amazes me to this day the number of sham artists operating under the guise of religion. I'm not talking about neighborhood churches passing a collection plate to pay their expenses and fund good deeds in the community, I'm talking about televangelists and huge mega-church leaders that are padding their own pockets from the good intentions of their followers.

I am a full blown believer of GOD and proud of it!! If you question your faith pick up "I don't have enough faith to be an Atheist". It brings in the doubters (like how I was) and combines the science with the Bible. You can even watch "Fireproof" and it will help. I was just like the asshole husband!!! I am a newbie to faith and the Bible but I welcome any discussion about God and Jesus. Like most I was raised Catholic and didn't get anything out of it and dropped off to the point of agnostic. I can discuss all day about my faith and checkered past but no offence, I don't have to prove myself to anyone; only Jesus and God. Call me what you want but I know some day on your death bed or a love one that is near the end....you'll be praying to GOD then. PM me if you want to talk. God Bless.

I just got to read most of the posts on this thread, very cool to see how other people views on religion, I was raised up with Christian morales and beliefs and I still do. I definitely think reading about Jesus's teachings has made me a better person. I actually plan on going into youth ministry next fall in college. BUT I am very open minded and respectful about religion and other peoples beliefs. I kinda feel like theres alot of "Christians" out there that are kinda giving us bad rep so I like calling myself just a follower or disciple of Christ. This was definitely a very interesting thread.

I came across a book that discusses religion from an interesting prospective. Its A Preface To Morals by Walter Lippmann. Available used on-line for $2 to $3 plus shipping. Recommend it to everyone, religious or not.

Judaism here. :) Doesn't look like many Jews are on here.
I have studied different religions for years, because if there is anything I hate, it is ill-informed people that are ignorant(we've all met them)

Kudos to this forum, no arguments or anything! I think I will enjoy my stay in these forums.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." -Mahatma Gandhi

There are certainly millions of good Christians out there, unfortunately there are also plenty of those who profess to be Christians while treating their fellow man in decidedly un-Christlike fashion. I believe Jesus was a great teacher and an example for all of us, I also believe the same of Buddha and several other prophets. If more Christians followed the actual teachings of Christ instead of the distorted message that some religions have turned it into, the world would be a much better place.

And a vocal one at that! A quick search for "praise be to obama" turns up quite a few hits on this site, all posted by you.

It speaks volumes of your passion for politics when you worship a politician as a deity.

Baptist. Raised and won't change my core beliefs. But being around the world so many times, I appreciate other people and their ideas.

My ex wife is the odd one: She was baptized as a teen, then went Jewish, then went Atheist, now she's a Wiccan. Oh yeah, she's on her 6th husband as well. So she's a very long story to recite...
