3" Suspension Lift for $500

How good of a ride do you get with a 3" Pro Comp lift? I'm looking to spend no more than $500 on a suspension lift I can install myself.

I'd go with a body lift but I heard the ride quality is pretty poor.

Most likely a semi-decent/eh ride. It uses lift block in the rear which are shitty. If you have a brand new truck it makes absolutely no sense to cheap out on a lift. If you want to cheap out at least go with Bilstein/eibach combo.

 

Bilstein 5100's, rear AAL. Just under 3" of lift done for around $500 + alignment assuming you do the install yourself. Do you have a link to the Procomp kit you're considering?

 

was looking at this one, but it says its only good for up to 2010's, figured there'd be another lift similar to this one for 2012s but hadnt had time to find it yet.

I have the ProComp lift with an ad a leaf in the rear. The ride is a little stiff, but it doesn't bother me.

 

Do the lift right the first time or don't do it at all. A 3" lift is going to cost anywhere from $500-800 depending on which you go with. At 3" you need new UCA's: ~$400. You'll probably want bigger tires: $1000. Using stock wheels you need spacers: $100 or aftermarket wheels: $500.
Plus alignment, wheel mount and balance but you can save $3-400 if you install everything yourself

Especially if you have a brand new '12 don't put crap underneath it and mess up a great truck. Do stuff right, research, research more, and be prepared to spend some money lol. It sucks spending that much but being satisfied with your decisions is worth it IMO. Good luck!

 

Why would you need wheel spacers if you use stock wheels?!?!

I agree with the rest of it though, including the extra cost of UCA's.

 

Depending on if you increase tire size you might hit your UCAs or rub. Either wheel spacers with stock wheels or new wheels with different backspacing is required from what I've learned on TW. I got new wheels with 4.5 BS and run 285's.

Sorry wasn't clear on that. Stock wheels and tires are obviously fine on anything

 

The wheel spacers are only required if you want to run certain sized tires (285's being a popular choice). There are plenty of taller tires that you can run on stock wheels without needing spacers and, with a little trimming, you could still avoid the spacer issue (personally, I wouldn't run spacers on my truck).
