    Hey hey hey!

Leased a 2011 ext cab 4x4, and i LOVE my taco, but the speakers just dont cut it for me.

How can i find details, threads, or suggestions on how to swap in a new head unit and speakers, without doing anything that isnt easily reversible when it's time to turn her back in?

Is such a thing even possible?

As always, thanks in advance! :)

Just do it...six months before your lease is up find out what the buyout amount is, sell it and make a profit.

That stuff is reversible. Can easily take it out. At least the head unit. I generally don't like modding a lease even though I did some stuff to the only car I've leased. Just sold all the parts before I turned the car in.

Sold my last Tacoma in 20 days and made a $7, 000.00 profit compared to the buyout price at the end of a 5 year lease.

My buy-out is over $15,000... so we're talking about a:

    4 year old tacoma
    50k miles
    5-speed
    2.7L 4-cylinder
    Extended cab
    4WD

that i would have to sell quick for at least 18,000 to clear taxes and fees

and that would MAYBE cover the toolbox and audio system added on.

I'm not necessarily looking to flip this thing for money in 2 years - I mean, I probably will be, eventually - but for now I'm just looking to put a legit audio system, with a siriusXM head unit in it and speakers that aren't designed for old women, that I can swap out easily and cleanly at the end of my lease.

Just looking for tips/suggestions/references to helpful threads or sites :)

Of course, just remove before returning. or don't. they'll never take apart the door panels to check.

I'm on my second lease now. Did same thing as my first:speakers, behind seat subwoofer, completely rewired, 3" lift, aftermarket headlights, front window tint, aftermarket fog lights, CAI etc.

You can remove before returning from lease or not up to you. They may request you to remove the things you can see visually other stuff is up to you.

Ok well i guess my next question is how much power can i get out of her without adding an aftermarket amplifier?

Could i wire (2) 6x9 speakers at 600w in without problems?

You can put the stuff in and remove in when you take the truck back and sell the stuff to make some money back. I highly doubt they're going to care about speakers, uniess when you return it that there is issues because of the speakers. Just put the speakers in, you know you want to.

Head unit with adapter harness is plug and play. No permanent mods required.
When I traded my '03 Tundra in, I ran the truck home, yanked the Camry Nav system, and reinstalled the original head unit and brought it back to the dealer... I did this while the salesman went to a partner dealership to pick up my new truck.

Speakers... depends on how you go.
The door tweeters are the problem. Unplugging them kills the feed to the main speakers.
Cutting the harness above the plug makes restoration harder.

It can be done in a reversible way, but it'll take some thought.
Easiest way is to unplug the tweeters and use some quick-taps to "short" the "in" and "out" pair together.
That'll leave broken insulation when you attempt to restore.
Cleanest way is to buy an extra pair of factory tweeters, cut the harnesses off, and mod those.

This has been my delima also. I do plan on buying my lease. I have a $15k residual and could most likely sell it for at least $22k. I know that can't go nuts with mods, but I don't really want to anyway.

I'd like to paint my grill to color match, just bought some TRD wheels and will probably swap out my head unit.

At least these trucks hold their value so you can actually sell it and come out ahead. Only car I leased was a 2007 Impala SS. Car stickered at $32k and buyout was supposed to be $17k at the end of the 3 year lease. Yea, after 2 years the car was only worth $15k lol.

if it is a general improvement to the vehicle i.e. most people would appreciate it, then the lease return with the mods wont be turned away.

I just leased a 2016 tacoma double cab and I plan on keeping it and refinancing it after my lease is up, but my question is, is it okay to have a amp and sub installed in it with no worries?
