Bought it back in May from a Toyota dealer in Columbus Ohio. I live in WV and at the moment I'm in northern Ohio, (Akron) at my parents home.

I planned on running by the dealer my parents bought their Toyotas at. I need to pick up an Oil filter.

I'll ask them and see what they say. I hate to have to drive 2 hours back to Columbus and then spend a few hours there. If the parts are $40.00, I'll suck it up and do it myself.

For the record, I've got 44, and some change on the Odometer.

I ordered and received the 4 spacer replacement kit the first week of March but just got the chance to do the work yesterday. The new pads are much beefier than the old, hard plastic ones. You really need to spread the leafs apart to get the new ones to fit. The rear ones are especially a tight squeeze! I lubed each spacer pad with Lucas white lithium grease I bought at Home Depot before putting them in there. No more squeak!

Hopefully til I sell the truck!:D

    Part #04001-28104 Spacer Kit, Service.

If you have 4 leafs you will need 2 of the kits above.

This is according to the TSB instruction sheets the dealer printed of for me.

    Just finished!

Took about an hour, the rears are somewhat of a pain in the ass.

    My tool list:
Long, short (nail puller) crow bars, and a "wonder bar"
    Needle nose (long)
    Flat head screw driver
    2 chisels used as wedges
    Hammer on stand by
    Brake cleaner

I did each side separate, starting with the rears. I pretty much followed the TSB print out. The wonder bar made this so much easier I think. If your not familiar, its a flat crow bar with a bend in the middle, lot more leverage with it.

I can't say it enough, spend the money and get the kit. These things are rubber and twice as thick as the plastic disks your popping out and replacing.

I have a 2010 with the TSB add a leaf upgrade and in the past few months theleaf spring squeak showed up like it did in my 2005. I just did my 20k serviceand talked to the service writer and he said, and I quote, “they stopped makingthe TSB shim/pucks and won’t be making them at all anymore”. My 05 squeakedlike a 77 Chevy ranch truck and now so does my 2010.

    I’m not taking this as gospel as I have had to show up and say look up yourlittle TSB machine because they thought the 2010 didn’t get the add a leaf fix.But if it is true, instead of using a tire tube, you can also use a tougherbike tube liner like this;

    http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Tuffy-Bicycle-Tire-Liner/dp/B0048LO6BQ

It’s a liner that goes between your bike tube and tire. I haven’t tried itbefore but it seems like it would hold up better then a regular bicycle tube.

Anyone hear the same or is there a light at the end of the squeaky leafspring tunnel.

i did this mod and it worked great. used locktite super glue, two of the pieces did slide out in two days, however im blaming that on the heavy rain and puddles at the time of install. will soon upgrade to JB weld

I think your dealer is bullshitting you.
That part number, I listed, others have listed, did you use it?

The TSB print out even says a 4 leaf set up gets 2 packs of these.

So if I recently had the TSB done should I have some sort of rubber shim kit installed already? I ask because I have a squeak from the rear now since the TSB that wasn't there beforehand. I just haven't had the time to take it in to the dealership since I work from about 6:00am to about 8:00pm these days and spend most of my days up in the mountains w/o even any phone reception to call and schedule anything.

I assume you did not use the Toyota kit since, if you did, there is no way for them to slide out.

I bought the Toyota kit and installed them in about 15 minutes. I couldn't be happier! I can get in and out of the truck without any squeaks or creaks or noises!

Could anyone give me a rundown on this? What exactly do these newer pads do that fix the squeak problem? And what does "TSB" mean?

My truck has been squeaking horribly the past few months and I'm fed up with it!
