    2012 Tacoma Access Cab i4 4x4
    Completely stock
    Hello! :)

I'd first like to say hello, as this is my first post on this site.

With my extremely short introduction out of the way, I have a few questions. I am 16 years old, and while I can drive, I don't have my own Tacoma..yet. My mother just purchased a 2012 Toyota Tacoma access cab i4 4x4 4spd auto after having a 2005 regular cab i4 4x4 5spd manual. She really likes it a lot, but now that she has only one truck rather then one truck and one car, she wants to put a little money into it to "make it hers."

We've thrown around the idea of maybe putting some aftermarket rims and tires on there, but our budget is extremely low. The only things she wants, are summer tires mounted on black rims, and winter tires mounted on the stock rims.

For now we are only worrying about the summer rims/tires, however. She would like them to be black, for the style factor. We don't want anything too big, as we need to keep fuel economy somewhat in site.

I was looking online and found steel wheels to be pretty cheap, and I can have them powderedcoated black. Are these a good deal, or should we wait and get aluminum rims?

Also, what's the optimum tire size for daily driving but also a few dirt roads here and there? Like I said, this is a daily driver for a women, so we don't need to go all out here. Also, suspension lifts would be nice, but I'm not sure if we want to go that extreme.

    Thanks everybody in advance! :)

    Welcome to TW...

If you can take your time SHOP the For Sale threads here and on CL...winter is still 2-3 months out..;)

You might end up with a good deal to help swing those decisions...either by finding AT's or Snows that someone has upgraded from or just a set of wheels you can paint black your self ,then price tires according to what she needs....

Tire size that came stock,245/16 ??? Your best bet is to use the tire calculator here at TW and see how radical you want to go PLUS give you a starting point for pricing;popular sizes usually have better pricing....

16 and taking care of MOM........OK in my book...

Also, almost all steel wheels hit the brake calipers on 2nd gen tacomas. The only ones that don't are wheelers steelies and the stock steelies
