False, peer review is to check your work so to speak. You submit your data to fellow scientists for them to analyze your data and tell you if you screwed up.

Researchers looked at information gleaned from 15 studies on more than 500 children, evaluating possible stigma, teasing and social isolation, adjustment and self-esteem, opposite gender role models, sexual orientation, and strengths.

you hand picked this segment which was a subset of the data: Studies from 1981 to 1994, including 260 children reared by either heterosexual mothers or same-sex mothers after divorce, found no differences in intelligence, type or prevalence of psychiatric disorders, self-esteem, well-being, peer relationships, couple relationships, or parental stress.

I don't in general discount the study.

however, a child raised in a home with a mom and a dad has a better chance in life.

one may not agree with my position. however my position is shared by many. (yeah, mostly old conservative folks, black...brown and white)

Oh, come on. This isn't about Al Gore. Nothing we've said came from that man. It's about us - our world, our communities, our families, and so on. Are you going to allow your obvious hatred of Al Gore blind you to that? Al Gore jumped on the existing bandwagon - he didn't invent it, frame it, nor is he driving it today. Vast numbers around the planet (many of whom have likely never even heard of Al Gore) are convinced, or at least believe it's a good possibility worthy of serious consideration. Instead of that, you and others are harping about Al Gore and similar. It's almost laughable.

Look at the data - global population growth, pollution, emissions, deforestation, shifting weather patterns, and so on. The evidence is there, not in Al Gore's back pocket (checkbook or whatever).

    Consensus.

You are misrepresenting facts. A two parent home produces better offspring, there has been no evidence to support it has to be one male one female.

I don't agree with your position because it's not based in science nor is it factual. It's based off of one or more of the three following reasons:

    1. religious zealotry
    2. bigotry
    3. it's icky

The issue is that the data was skewed, lied about, and opposing data was deliberately silenced. The whole scientific process was done backwards. They decided the earth was warming and doctored their data to back the claim.

this is why post climategate, we are seeing there is no legitimate proof of warming in over 15 years. The only time people say "yea huh" is because they're using the old doctored data.

IF there were to be a REAL debate on man made climate change, it has to be done with honest data. We have an entire debate wrapped around a scam and it's a great disservice to the people who will be affected negatively by any action taken to prevent something that doesnt exist.

you have to start with honest data, it's the foundation of science and it's bewildering that it has become a partisan debate.

Already said that - "And, yes, the planet was here before and will be after. The issue is how long we'll survive on it."

Ah, that's the key. Do we make drastic changes in our lifestyles or employ a range of options? Our trucks are already consuming less fuel, and spewing less emissions, than just two or three decades ago. What's next? Throwing out those trucks entirely, planting a few trees, or looking for solutions elsewhere? It's that range of options we should be focusing on. That is, if we can even agree whether the problem exists at all. As long as we're focused totally on the latter (whether the problem exists), others are free to make choices about the former (what to do about it).

Speaking specifically about the U.S. I would say the current state of affairs regarding our economy is of a far more immediate threat to the world in a global sense than if its hotter or colder out.

I think the worlds food supply and how we choose to nourish ourselves is a far more immediate threat that needs to be corrected.

An argument is often made regarding "our future generations" and what the current generations are leaving for them. I don't think we will have any future generations to worry about if we can't keep 7 year old children from being obese and diabetic.

That said global warming or climate change or whatever flavor of the month you want to call it will be self correcting if there are no people to continue the damage. We will eat ourselves to death before we get to hot to live.

I agree that the world food and water supply is a great concern , and as such , knowledge of climate trends is paramount
