Most likely, yes. Alignment or out of round tire than *cannot* be balanced is my primary suspect.

That said, you'd be amazed what sensations an unhappy driveshaft can cause.

Caliper slap from the front brakes. Not a worry.

If it was pre lifted, and the vibes came with the truck when you bought it, they should be liable under their certified pre owned warranty.

Alignment wouldn't shake a sterring wheel, though the out of round tire could very well be the problem, the tech would see that when they balanced the tire if they paid attention to it. And I've had the unhappy driveshaft. I finally found where it was happiest with alot of trial and error. I've got an 1/8th" spacer that has done the trick. And 1+ on the caliper slap. Alot of folks are like OMG! WTF is that? Just the pads shifting.

 

If your toe is out of spec, it certainly can on the right road surface. Again, this is less common.

Also, FYI:

My carrier bearing photo was taken during test fitting. Saw exactly what you saw and went out about 10 minutes after that and got some 50mm bolts (Photo is with 40mm) to remedy. Most here don't notice the "issue". Truck was never driven with those bolts.

 

Outstanding. I have had three different size bolts over the past year with tons of combinations of drops, and flipping the bearing and shims. It has been a real pain, but finally got the shudder into an acceptable range. Looks like you made your drop yourself, how much of a drop is that?

 

1in. drop even. I didn't make it, Lowe's has spacers in their hardware section from .25 to 2in in .25in increments. Most any hardware store should have something similar.

Cost me about $7 and 5 minutes to bolt in.

20 minutes if you count the return trip to exchange the 40mm for 50mm.

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY... its your tires. Had someone at a mod day swap their front tires/wheels with someone else temporarily after they had the same exactly problem as you and guess what... the problem went away. You need to either get with a friend and swap tires, or take it up with your tire company. I've had to balance my tires/wheels 3 times alone just to get mine to go away!

Tire balancers these days can't handle the crappy build quality of tires such as BFGs. You need a road force balancing setup and even then, those don't work but 70% of the time.

 

TIRES/WHEELS Summit. Nothing else. Take it back to your dealership, you WILL NOT pay a dime to them if they sold you it. Tell them to swap for some stock tires and wheels and you WILL see.

 

Just installed the new bushing the other day... NO VIBE! Couldn't be happier. Truck rides like glass now, well close to it but you get the idea. I took a couple of videos while doing it.. figured some on here would like them. Unfortunately I didn't take a video of the actual removal, just a few things I noticed and what helped me.

Yes... I know in one of the vidoes I said "west coast gear supply".. oops!!

The whole process was fairly simple even though I do not work on vehicles all that often. Maybe working on aircraft has given me some skill I was not aware that I had.
Few things that I did to make the process go smooth:

-Put a jack under LCA to keep from falling
-Removed the bolts connecting the spindle to the LCA, seperated the tie rod, removed 35mm bolt from axle, lightly tapped the axle with a malet taking care not to damage the threads. Onces the axle was clear of the hub, the entire assembly swung out of place. Just be careful to keep an eye on the break line and ABS wires!!
-The auto hobby shop here on base did not have the slide hammer I needed so I used a large punch and tapped the axle out of the diff housing. Took quite a good hit to release the C Clip.
-I uses a piece of a thick plastic bag(bag that my cv boot kit came in from toyota) and wadded it up to place inside the diff. This helped keep the small plate from falling inside the diff and really helped keep it center as it springs back and pushes the tool against the bearing.
-Be sure to keep the tool dead center as you can see from the chip I took out of my bearing.

In your third video posted above, the wear marks that you can feel I believe are caused by the seal. When dirt and dust get on the seal it causes wear on the shaft where it contacts the shaft. There are minerals in dirt that are harder than the induction hardened steel shaft (for example Garnet is used to machine hardened steel).

 

That was it! I changed out both wheel bearings this aternoon and its really quiet now - no more growling. I had to put up the windows, shut off the fan and radio, and just drive along marveling at how quiet and peaceful it is now. I must have gotten used to that noise because now that its gone I'm amaised at how quiet my Michelin Latitude Tour tires are, its quieter than a lot of cars I've been in.
The CV bushing fixed some of the problem and the wheel bearings fixed the rest.
