3 inch lift question

    magnaflow exhaust,cold air intake
    I have a 02 tacoma double cab trd 4x4 it currently has stock 265/75/r16's. I'm thinking of getting a 3" leveling kit will 285's(33's) fit. Seems like it would sense the 265's fit stock with no rubbing... Any suggestions to run 33's ("with a budget of about $1000")would be appreciated:)Thanks

    You should be fine cause a true 33 is a 305 i believe, and also most 3 inch kits will allow you to run a 33 with little to no trimming.

    Ya with a 3" kit you should be able to run 285/75/16s no prob (33s)

    You will be fine man! Just stay away from the spacer lifts... I had one and it was a really harsh stiff ride. It sucked!!! Upgrade and do it right the first time, Check out Toyteclifts.com...
    Prefer- Coilovers or OME lift

    ftr 305 is a width

    a 305 is wider than a 285 which is wider than a 265 and so on and so forth

    the 2nd number in a metric tire size can be used to figure out height

    for example

    a 255/85/16 is roughly 33" tall but skinny...whereas a 285/75/16 is ALSO 33" tall but a bit wider

    depending on which wheels and tires you go with...you could possibly still experience some rubbing...especially on the frame rail and pinch weld

    its possible...it really depends on what that 2nd number is

    a 285/75 and a 305/70 should be almost identical in height and close to an inch different in width

    Every number there effects every other number, you can't change 1 with out changing another with the exception of the rim that will remain the same yet affect the tire size.

    uhh...everything? lol
    285s will prob rub just a hair, 305s WILL RUB QUITE A BIT. If you dont mind trimming 1-2" off the front bumper at the bottom so you can turn then the 305s might be ok. I would get the 285s, they will fit better.

    Ok so im the new guy on the forum and just bought my first truck....can someone explain what all the numbers being thrown around apply to?? 255/85/16?? what is this in terms of lift height and suspension??

    255/85/16 or any set of numbers similar are metric tire sizes

    with the first number being the width, 2nd being sidewall height in terms of a ratio with the width, 3rd being rim size

    you will need a spidertrax wheelspacer (1 1/4") for them not to rub in the front. I did the Fabtech leveling coilover kit with AAL and installed STT's LT285/75r16 but didnt not fit untill the next day when i received the spacer. I cranked the coil up to 3". my profile has the pictures, dont forget to put some up when you finish.
