255/85 R16 Owners Experience

your city/town is probably using license plate cameras mounted to patrol cars. they can't be read if on angles or some bullshit.

My friend has been running this size for a little over a year. Really good performance with marginal difference in MPG. His only complaint is that the thinner profile seems to wear faster than a fatter tire, but he openly admits to driving aggressively with them and figures his next set will last longer as he's matured a little.

Personally, I like the look of them. Tall/thin profile tires look more legit than tall/fat tires, probably because every bro at the mall has tall/fat tires whereas all the military and service vehicles run a tall/thin profile.

Myself, I'm still debating between profiles. I'm finding it's one thing to know that tall/thin tires typically outperform tall/fat tires and another to voluntarily install pizza cutters on your truck.

 

It probably depends on how your local pd is. In fairfax county some of the county guys will pop you for whatever they can. I work with a retired county cop and when i showed him the original mounting position he said it was a matter of when, not if, id get pulled.

So i went to advance and bought one of those hard plastic mounting plates and zip tied the hell out of it where the DO holes are and mounted the plate like a good boy to not piss anyone off. Not disrespecting the demello bumper, that just happened to be the best forward facing place to mount.

Since my Taco has never been and will never go to a mall I chose the better performing tire.

As petty as it sounds I don't want my private vehicle to look like a work vehicle. Although if I could find a way to get the 325/85R16 off my work truck and onto my personal truck I'd probably change my opinion... but I'm pretty sure I'd wind up in jail so...

I edited my post because I felt it was kind of pretentious and I figured most people wouldn't understand it anyway, and based on the responses so far I was right.

 

Once again OZ is full of it.
The only reason he got the aluminum bumper is so it wouldn't rust sitting around on the floor of his garage.
