This is pure tomfoolery. If anybody would like to know how A-TRAC works in difficult terrain, I suggest you pm jandrews

I never ripped off my bumper. I caught the lip of the bumper while slowly dropping off a 'cliff' bit of the road, while being guided. It was just a battle scar of the toughest road in Baja. I have photos of another Tacoma with the same bumper bend.

I thought A-TRAC prevented battle scars? That seems to be what you were insinuating in your other post

No, best to ask me, as I have A-TRAC, I use A-TRAC, and I can compare it to non-A-TRAC Tacomas with a rear locker, as I had two of those before... and other 4WDs before I had Tacomas.

If you don't like this Toyota product, fine... but base it on actual use not jealous outbursts to raise hell in a thread here to EDUCATE on how it does work.... Thanks.

All I am saying David, is that I have seen jandrews use his truck in much more difficult terrain than you, and he also has A-TRAC. I don't have A-TRAP and I don't have lockers, I am neither jealous nor trying to raise hell, I am simply trying to point out misinformation.

thank you for excellently proven my point lol..

anyways, as i have stated to you in the past, those bumpers are flimsy. i went through 3 before finally stepping up to a high clearance plate style bumper. we helped recover a taco down in ocotillo wells that was stuck in a sandy wash, had no rear recovery points so we had no choice to wrap the strap around the rear leaf spring hanger. the tension of the strap bent his bumper up in the corner. whatever, bent stock bumpers is a huge occurrence and hardly worth mentioning.

Where I go, usually nobody else is around... so no videos... However, there have been a couple videos when I did use A-TRAC... like pulling James in his 2WD up the Diablo Drop Off.

I am sorry if jandrews doesn't like his/ her truck's A-TRAC. I can tell you that an A-TRAC truck will out climb any other truck with just 4WD or just a rear locker.

It isn't the same as a front locker, but it is pretty damn close... and included in the price.

I never mentioned anything about jandrews liking or disliking A-TRAP, simply that he has a better idea of how it works in more difficult terrain.

Well, when the grownups want help with how the Toyota provided traction systems operate, they can ask me, anytime. I have nothing against the non-Toyota products, and this thread isn't about them. I think people are coming to this thread for information, not insults and gross photos of dogs.

I may be confused a bit here about all the ATRAC hate - but I've witnessed it in action over and over again on the FJ's I wheel with, in pretty rough terrain. We have tons of videos showing them climbing obstacles that would be very difficult, if not impossible without ATRAC.

Wish ATRAC came on my '07.

There isn't any ATRAC hate..and I have said many times in the passt that ATRAC works very well for terrain in easy to moderate difficulty.

A stock Tacoma without A-TRAC or a locker can handle easy to moderate terrain.

Add a locker or A-TRAC and you graduate to the ability to drive difficult to extreme difficult terrain.

Naturally, you still need to know how to use your truck and obviously if you can't get your A-TRAC to take you into difficult or extreme terrain, you need more experience.

Here again, you are trying to be insulting as if you know where anyone has been, that you have not seen. Getting all four tires to work for you is what A-TRAC and lockers do... Toyota makes the A-TRAC and rear locker... they do not have a front locker in the USA... so we learn how A-TRAC can be used instead.

Seriously, I had an '05 and had no clue about how much more of a truck I got when I traded up to a '10. They look identical, but wow, what a difference limited slip (TRAC) and no slip (A-TRAC) can be, and to where you can drive with confidence!
