I posted a thread before about buying and FJ or spending the money on my '01Tacoma, and had decided to spend the money on my Taco. Well, I bought some new rims and bumper for my Tacoma and decided not to buy the FJ... Then I came across a deal that I couldn't pass up. I just bought this '74 FJ40 and am going to pick it up this Sunday! It has the Chevy V8 conversion, but the motor has a cracked head. I've already got a 350 to put in it from my dad, so I won't have to spend any money on a new motor. It has a little bit of typical FJ rust, but nothing that's not fixable. It'll probably need new brakes, fuel lines, some interior stuff (seats), etc., but nothing too extreme. It also comes with a bikini top and soft doors, but no hard top (I'll never use one anyways). I only paid $750 for it! What do you guys think?

Here's a pic of my Taco. I think it's looking good enough for now...

It doesn't look that bad does it for a stock '74? The rockers have been replaced, just not painted. I think some new rear quarters or diamond plate protection panels will fix the back right up. It was only $750. I figured I could easily get my money back out of it if it's too much for me to fix...

I've always loved those 40's. I'd love to have a built one as a 'wheeler.

That's what I'm planning on doing with this one. Maybe someday I'll "restore" it, but for now I just want something fun to play with and work on in my spare time. I don't really care how pretty it looks for now.
