Has anyone removed their cigarette lighter from the dash in a 1st gen? Do you have to take the dash apart, or does it and the little plastic facing pop out by itself? It seems to be separate from the rest of the dash, but I am afraid to pull to hard and cause damage.

I want to replace it with the same power outlet and cover like the two below it. I am not a smoker, don't let smokers smoke in my truck. So call me anal, I just would rather have the clean look of the outlet with cover.

I actually have two outlets with covers. Once I got this mod completed, and make sure both work, I was going to offer the other one up to others here at TW. There are other threads about this mod. Mostly on 2nd Gen.

I am extremely cautious when it comes to prying, pulling, etc on dash pieces. In previous trucks, I have broken more than I can count. :(

I am not against following the instructions at customtacos on removing all the parts of the dash to get to it. Before I do, I wanted to check, because it appears I wouldn't have to, looking and feeling the edges of the piece around the lighter.
