Thanks. Yeah the rack is an oem roof rack. They put them on 02 and early 03 models(mine is an 03) When I first got the truck I didn't like the rack but now I love it mainly because you dont see them.

You sanded, primed and painted all 4 rims in one morning?

Not to be a ball buster but it sounds like you skimped on the prep work, hence the displeasure with the results.

You can always lightly sand them down and try another few light coats of paint. (maybe someone with more experience can chime in)

btw - it looks really good.

I appreciate it and i probably didn't spend as much time as i could have but after painting the front and back bumpers a few months ago i got kind of a good idea of how to sand it right and i got them all to where i think should have been a good point but who knows your most likely right. ill probably try and re sand them and touch them up this weekend

What did you use to sand it?

I'm looking to paint my alloy rims while the temps still allow it.

But my rims are in far worse shape than yours.

After reading posts/threads for about 3 years now, I think I'm just going to take a scotch brite pad (forgot what color, I have it bookmarked) to the wheel for the "sanding" phase.

For the record, RMAN also had some issues with his rims that he primed, but no issues with the ones he didn't prime. I think there was bubbling or discoloration. But he used Rustoleum enamel, not paint, on his. Might want to contact him to see what he did to fix the two rims that were primed, and to see if that's possibly your issue.

Started working on pulling the trans/ t-case last night.
Got everything out of the way and ready to drop the trans.

At 190K the poor old W59 5-Speed is ready for replacement.
3rd gear has been grinding for 50K and 5th has recently started popping out of gear.

Got an awesome deal on a used trans with only 6K miles on it!
