I totally understand, I sit at a computer all day at work so when I get home I barely want to touch one. The way you make it sound though I would think you would want the farthest thing from a truck or off-road capable vehicle as your personal vehicle.

After my 24hrs on the highway this week, I am considering a different tire. The Fierce MTs are great by all means, but I would like to try a pizza cutter next.

My only concern is that at the races I do retrievals for I am constantly pulling vehicles out of silt beds or deep wash type gravel. Anyone have experience with these tires in those terrains?

Tacovender definitely has the SoCal desert driving down pat on skinnys. Surely a number of the other guys here do, too. I dropped mine to 25psi recently and didn't have any probems, but would probably drop further if on soft sand. Only one way to find out....

I drop mine to 15psi on rocks, hard2kill goes down to 10psi. We both have KM2s. They have a pretty stiff sidewall which probably doesn't help when airing down for sand purposes. Might look at the Cooper ST for sand since they are an AT, and see if their sidewall isn't as stiff.

I am usually in sugar sand with no bottom or mud with no bottom. The MT pizza cutters dig like crazy apposed to my old AT Duratracs. Now it's common sense that they would dig more then a AT.

Regarding steering the 255's seem to draw me into ruts very easily. They are kinda wishy washy in sand at speeds above 20mph IMO. I usually need to keep my speed down just in case a sand rut comes up. Now you also need to know the trails I am driving on are tree lined and just a little bit wider then my truck so in an open sandy spot I don't have those worries.

IMO these tires also have horrible lateral stability. They slide sideways very easily in sandy off camber trails. I posted pics in here previously, but here is a few where it slid on sand where I feel my old AT's would of gripped.

my ass end kicked out here due to bad lateral stability of the tread and poor throttle control. they were not aired down and running at 33psi

Thanks for the psi advice. I'm always curious what others run and when. There should be a psi thread for this. Hmmmm.... I'm guessing the Cooper advice was for DWreck. :)

I think a big reason the rear end kicked out in those conditions is because of your air pressure being way too high. I have had no such behavior from my 33x10.50's which are similar in size. But I typically run mine at 12-15psi off-road and rarely above 25psi on the road.

In the soft stuff, tire pressure is a huge factor in wheel spin. We all know lower tire pressure in the rocks is critical as well for improved traction

Ahhh, you're in Vegas - I get it now. Yeah, those Coopers are sweet. Someone on here runs a set and has taken it in the mud/sand. If I can remember then I'll point you in his direction. He's somewhere in this thead...

Yeah, the cooper comment was for him. I thought to myself as I was typing that it wasn't directed at you, but said screw it, they'll figure it out.

You know, I drooled over this size wheel in everyone's pictures for a long time before I had them. Now, while owning them, I STILL drool over these photos. Looks good, Sombrio.

What tires are those? I'd be all over 255/85's if they made duratracs in that size :( Need a good 255/85 snow tire

Haven't had my Coopers on sand yet, but I've got no complaints regarding their street manners or their ability on rocks. Being D rated they ride a bit softer than an E on the highway and squat nicely when aired down.

Check out the Cooper Discoverer ST. It's an AT that comes in 255/85 and comes ready for studs.
