    ...too much shit to list.
    That is just sexy.
Great choice on doing a two piece skid. I have to beat the hell out of mine with a ford tool so it fits again after every time the truck touches dirt.

^ yea i love the look of two piece, it's got a certain racecar look to it, and you can choose which to take off depending on what you're trying to do.

Few questions regarding the front bumper. I'm trying to design/build my own. Much cheaper that way. I have the imagination for design, not the greatest builder.

What I've been thinking of is actually quite similar to what you've done here.

The 2 bars that run from the front frame to the top bar.....

-Are they angled @ 45 degrees? It looks like each bar has been cut to look like a trapoziod with 45 degrees cuts at each end. Is this correct?

If so, how did you get the top bar welded to them without making any additional bends or anything?

Is the top bar an oval type tubing????

The problem that I was running into was that when the tube gets cut at 45 degress it makes the outside diameter larger and it seemed like it would be hard to weld a tube of the same size onto something that has become larger.

My solution was, make a 45 degree cut on the end of the tube to be placed against the frame, then have the tube bent at another 45 degrees. Thus giving me a 90 degree angle and basically a horizontal line to weld another tube to.

    Any of that make sense?

Gist...I want to know how you went from the frame to the top bar with only 1 tube and got the top bar welded to the angled ends. That is what I want mine look like. Plus it would help keep down on cost. Less metal and less labor that go into it...the less it cost me.

If I understand you correctly you ate assuming that is it one bar that goes straight from the frame to the top horizontal bar of the bumper, if so that is not what we did.. There are two horizontal bars

    Does that help?

the tube you are refering to is not bent at all, the lower end is angled to sit flush with the end of the frame, and the top is notched to fit the horizontal tube.

You just notch the tube to fit the main tube

Sorry I was clear as mud. I'll try again.

The only bar(s) I'm concerned about is the bar circled in yellow, and the top bar.

Yes, I understand what I've circled in green. The tube was cut at an angle then welded to the frame. I was planning on this anyways. I won't be welding to the frame, I'm doing a bolt on thing, but same idea.

....The shape of the tube in the yellow if viewed from the side...At one end it's cut to an angle (45 degrees?) and mounted to the frame. The other end of that tube....how is it shaped to mate correctly with that top tube? Is it cut at another 45 degree angle? Making what would be a trapaziod shape? (I'm beginnig to think it's not)

What size tubes are you using? 1.25 inch?

I think I've found my answer though.

-Make 1 cut at one end at 45 degress.
-Weld that to the plate I'm having fabbed to bolt on where the crush bumper was.
-Make no angled cuts to the other end.
-Should then be able to notch the protruding tube and fit another piece to it.

    Something like what's below...and no it's not a penis.

Nice sig quote. Applies a little here.

I did see that and I've understood that part for a few days.

My problem when I posted my question was....

The shape of the tube in yellow, if taken seperately and laid down on a flat surface, what does it look like?

I was thinking it would have to look like #1. But that is wrong I think.

I think #2 is the correct way, and then yes the notch at the end.

and then when #2 gets welded/bolted to the frame, it should look like whats in post #1181...and then like whats on her truck....

ya give me a second to draw a picture. if it was layed on flat surface the notched part would sit a bit different. like the notch would kinda angle up. but dont let me confuse u, u got the right idea. ill post a illustration in a sec

    What?

Yea you cut the correct angle at one end so it can attach to the frame and come out at the angle you want. Then the top end of that pipe needs to be notched to the correct radius as the top horizontal tube that will be welded to it.

Sounds like maybe you're not sure of how fab guys weld stuff, and in that case, I'd suggest you let an expert worry about how to make the welds on your bumper.

    I knows.

    I'm not good at retort-trolling.

Or building bumpers apparently. (I don't care though, its really not that hard to figure it out. Just a buncha math really. This is a learning process)

    Mucho Gracias!!!!

    Al-fuckin-right!!!!!

Thank you so, so, so, so, so much.

    Rep'd.

That notch would be cut to form to the other tube I assume? (sorry to ask, but I'm just double checking)

Ummm no. The only way that works is if the main tube is 150% of the size of the other tube. Which is what yours and his drawings are lol. If they are the same size tubing it should look like the my drawing to the right and the center lines of the tube should line up
