    Sooooo 2 random questions today....

First: Can a 265 width Tire fit on a 9inch Rim? Would it work or just look weird/expose the sidewall?

It would actually be my old Goodyear Silent Armor - 265/65R17 going on a 17x9.

(at least until they wore out and I step up to a 285 in whatever. Maybe another 8 to 10k)

Second: Is it possible, and how much would it cost, to swap the older Tundra drivetrain into a 2nd gen? Not the new 5.7L, the last Gen 4.8 or whatever it was...

You would be better going with a 350 and a C4 trans.
And it is really not that expensive to do a a swap like this. This first thing I would to is strip every thing out of the engine bay including wiring from the tuck and computer. The decide if you want to go with a carburetor or fuel injection. If you go with a carburetor you won't even need a CPU cut way down on the cost. This you buy one of the easy classic wiring harnesses.

All you would need to come up with is an ajustment to your drive shaft, headers and a motor mount/Trans mount. I would also go with some re-fited gauges. You could send your gauge cluster to any of the gauge shops and tell them what you are doing and what you wanted instaled. You would basically be building a "32" hot rod Tacoma. I think you could do this for under 10k.

Someone asked about this before and I emailed my emissions instructor. State Law says to pass emissions inspection the engine in the vehicle must be the same model year or newer, it cannot be an older engine than the chassis. Now thats to legally pass inspection. Some places are loose and obviously a race vehicle wouldnt matter

I was just day dreraming about it earlier today. I doubt I would do any sort of Drivetrain swap in my Taco. I would just do an S/C and be happy with it.

Thanks for the info on the tire stuff. I figured It wouldn't be a problem, just wonted some confirmation.

It could. Just register the Tacoma a custom show/Parade car. I hope you have all your classic cars registered as show cars. I have not had to take any of my cars through emission testing in like 5-6 years now.

    No emissions tests ever again.

You will NEVER run into issues here with emissions and motor swaps. I've never had a stock motor in any one of my cars ever and never once had a single issue with that here. If it passes that's all the MVD cares about here.

Go to Cali, then you'll have a world of problems.

Thats because most of the techs here are 18yr olds that dont care. They are supposed to visually inspect a few things but they never do. The instructors at ADEQ will give you dirty looks if you tell them you drive with a check engine light on, they are serious lol. She looked at me and said I am ruining the environment, I chuckled because I thought she was joking, she was not

I'm amazed the the DMV techs can find the tail pipe. I would be 100% certain they could not tell the difference in a Prius motor and a Mack Truck Diesel.

Damn on the kidding part... I thought you were going to be the first wheelie standing short box armor plated Taco to jump the grand Canyon. You would have made Evel Knievel cry.

You just crushed my dreams like this lady

An engine swap on a 2nd gen would never be worth it in a million years.
