Proper Octane Fuel for 2002 2.7 liter

hey now,
newbie question here. '02 4cyl. 2.7 liter. what is the correct octane fuel for me to run in my truck. haven't gotten an owners manual yet to look it up. the toyota dealer says 87 is fine. am not sure where i saw it but read that minimum of 91 is required. don't have a problem running either one and fuel mileage seems to be unaffected with either. just want to do the right thing as she's got to last me. in my past experience, all 4valves per cylinder engines either should run , or are required to run premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or better. any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have been running my truck on 87 for a year and have had no problems all 91 will do is give you more power

 

I run 93 and get better gas mileage, but after a few calculations, I get the same price/mile. Basically I am not saving any money but I go longer between fill ups

I don't think it matters much, I've been running 85 since I've had my truck, but that's because we only have 85, 87, 89, and the occasional 91.

87 is what is recommended, any higher octane would just be a waste of $$$ IMO.

 

question if i add a 444ml bottle or octane booster from lucas how much will my octane go up? and how much power?

 

bummer! good thing i didnt but a 5 dollar bottle of it!

 

ive had my taco(2.7) for soon to be 5 years, & i have always used 87 octane
