I tried the Duplicolor wheel paint first, and I couldn't get it to lay down correctly. Kept coming out of the can flaky/powdery. I sanded that off and used VHT Roll Bar and Chassis paint. It turned out great, and has held up very well over the last 6 months.

Wow! Looks great. I think that color would look awesome on my black taco.

Doesn't really mean anything but I'm 99% sure that plasticote became duplicolor.

So I mysteriously "forgot" how to apply a clear coat? According to our comodditys rep he said they took all the good stuff out of the rattle cans.....

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I know that plasticote became duplicolor but that doesn't mean the formula was the same. I wasn't knocking your abilities at all, just throwing out some half baked useless knowledge and thinking that the product probably changed since you last used it. No disrespect intended.

The duplicolor wheel paints are enamels also. Clear enamels in the rattle can seem to be thicker than lacquers.

Well, step one down. Put new TRD wheels on to replace the steelies but no paint yet. The duplicolor anthracite is darker than I want, but I saw a guy on youtube that used the anthracite as a base and sprayed the silver over that and it came out REALLY good. I might just sit on these for a while and start painting later after I figure out exactly what I want to do. They are a little bright right now for my taste, especially with a black truck.

I painted my steelies with it also and bought some black lug nuts. Exactly the look I was after and easy to touch them up. I did not use clear, just the paint. I tried to paint the plastic center cap and they didn't turn out well so I left them off.

No worries man! I had read that they merged a while back. And no need to apologize. When I read my first reply to you, I didn't realize how much of an ass I sounded like. Sorry again for that.
