Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
x2 I think that could be said for any yak no matter what the material of construction is. I store mine on two sawhorses upside down and the hull is still fairly in it's original state, just scratched all to hell. :D

I think the purpose is to make it lighter. So they can make it a little "stronger" at the same weight. But then is it too stiff and thus easy to damage I think is your point?

I haz no experience with them so I haz no point. I just assume the stiffer the easier to damage on a rock or when some asshole spears you at full speed :D

Oh and I should mention... Eastern mountain sports is very negotiable on kayaks. 20% off is a common occurrence. And a good boat can start around $700 plus another $200 for paddle and pfd, so 20% is a big discount.

But definitely don't buy the shit brand.. Remember you are depending on this thing to keep you floating safe and sound..

Thanks for the info! I didn't know they negotiate prices. Wonder if I can convince them to sell a rental a little early. :D

Do they have specific models that they use for rentals or is it kinda random? Wondering if they even rent one that I would want. I guess I can swing by the one near me after work and see what they have.

They credit you the cost you spent on renting towards a purchase of a new one, up to I think 3 days rental costs.. $20-$30 a day maybe? :notsure:

Local state park rental place has some listed on craigslist. Post is almost a month old though, I just emailed them to see what's left if any. They are only 5-10 mins from my house.

Edit, they just got back to me with the current list:

    2010 Wilderness Pamlico 120 Blue $649 Sale $449
    Wilderness Pamlico 135t $899 Sale $675
    2009 Wilderness Pungo 140 Orange $949 Sale $499
Old Town Twin Otter Cloud $899 Sale $499
Ocean Kayak Frenzy Yellow $439 Sale $299
Ocean Kayak Caper $599 Sale $479
2010 Ocean Kayak Malibu II XL $889 Sale $599

How about the Wilderness Pamlico 120?

Pamlico is pungos less attractive younger brother, but still a good boat.

Or what about the Pungo 140? Seems like a great price for the boat. Don't know if I want to lug around a 14' yak though.

There are some spots a 12' is tight in SNJ but you would kick some ass on a 15 mile open water run in a long boat.

This. I'd feel comfortable in a 14' kayak in the pine barrens but it would be a lot of work to navigate some tight spots. But if you think you'd like to do some more open water a 14' would be great.

That's what I figured. Saw the price was down another $100 from their post so it caught my eye. I'll try and swing by after work to check them out. Think I can fit a yak in the FR-S?
