    stuff...
I was in the same situtaion you are in. I wanted a 1/8 nitro buggy but i didn't want to make a costly build so i looked into the RTRs. I ended up getting the Kyosho Inferno Neo. Got it from Amain. I guess I am an Associated guy (rc8t, sc8e, sc10 4x4) but I'd recommend the Inferno neo.
I can humble guys with more expensive setups around the track. Mind you not really racing competitively, just for fun.

    Things you should know...

philip screws... hate em, but got a screw kit and the thread pitch was wrong so I left em in. I'm used to them now and it doesnt bother me anymore. retorque everything when you get it out of the box!

Diffs have only two planetary gears. You can buy the diff bevel shaft and gears and upgrade to 4 gears each diff. Install diff fluid at this time. Just did mine, went 5/7/3 front to rear.

Changed shock oil, Kyosho uses a different nethod of measuring the oils, just went with associated 32.5

Change front steering hub to 22 degree carrier to gain way more steering. The front was toe'd way out from the factory so I set it to be more neutral.

Its a good kit and a tough one too. The motor is way more powerful than the car needs and run times aren't too bad either. I only run 20%. Its a great starting point and you can upgrade later when funds allow. Shares parts with the 7.5, like the ones I mentioned above. Its really fun and handles/flies really well. The servos are good as far as RTR servos go, but I just changed mine out. The pullstart hasn't given me anything to complain about, and I donb't plan on getting another motor for it. It responds well to tuning and I've got it so that mine can idle forever, it seems. Maybe for the whole tank but who wants to waste nitro?

As it sits now, all the mods above, pus some things I had laying around and bought.
    Reedy Life battery
    Futaba Fasst receiver
    Futaba brushless for throttle
Savox digital titanium for steering (figured I'd give it a try, others have good results with them)
    Dynomite header
    Ofna JP1 pipe

Last weekend I was runnig with a mugen 5 and "The Car". The mugen had a .28 and the car had a .21 race motor. The inferno got a mean holeshot and had them chasing me down. Even with my driving I held them off and won many times. Thats with the stock radio and servos btw. Its hilarious when they see me with a pullstart and realize its a RTR kit. All the more reason to get one! Good luck.

Mine is great. All you got to do is place the battery up front. Amazing how much it helps

    401e7b52-55a0-69d9_6171d5f261aa89ffee6431eb4e0c65169fb1ac66.jpg

Basically it is the honcho and wraith chssis together with the wraith alxes and drive train.

I kind of doing a modified one on the honcho chassis and wraith alxes

Triing to figure out how to use the wraith tranny as well

Looking like I'm gonna need another motor... Need something a little stouter than the castle 1410 though...

What's the strongest motor you can run on 2S?

    No Servos either

anything nitro is going to be expensive over time

    D8T- $335
    Werks B2- $170
    Werks pipe- $95
    Servos- $150ish
    Tires- $27/pair
    Wheels- $17/pair
    Starter box- $95
    Byrons fuel- $35/gallon

The Kyosho Infernos are based of an much older chassis design, and as it was pointed out it still uses philips head screws. Personally I can't stand pull starters on nitro engines

Just at the hobby shop. Looked at the TF2 kit almost bought it. Very clean and organized in the box. The two speed tranny is sick. Instructions are very simple and easy to understand. Best part is the alxes, tranny and transfer case come pre assembled!!

    Why I didn't buy it?!?!?

    You Ask?!?!?!

    It was 400 dollars.
