    Exactly

Your kidding me right? I could care less about your church. Just know you support a system based on intolerance. How funny is that? Doesn't god love us all? Well I gues not gays, lesbians, unmarried mothers/fathers and the list goes on.

809 million people have died in religious wars. That’s nearly a billion people.

By comparison, 209 million have died in the name of Communism.

Some 62 million died during World War II, civilian and military, on all sides.

Conclusively, more people have died in the name of religion than in the name of Communism or Hitler, or the two combined times two.

Sure seems like the church needs protecting  Please.

In his eyes they are. Everyone can be forgiven just by asking. I say we let all the criminals out of jail that repent and send them to his community.

The establishment clause has generally been interpreted to prohibit 1) the establishment of a national religion by Congress, or 2) the preference by the U.S. government of one religion over another.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Establishment_Clause

catering laws to one religious view shows preference over another.

my personal veiw. you want to tax a place where i go to worship my God and my Saviour, then i think we should be taxed for joining TW or XRU or CT and while your at it lets tax the Big Brother foundation, Feed the children, and tax Operation Christmas Child.

Ah, here we go. As soon as someone defends religion, assumptions are made about that person. I'm not religious, but that doesn't change the reality I've presented, nor the absurdity of your position. You can shout about religious wars all you want, but I have yet to see anyone present solid, undisputable, proof to back that up (yes, it's been discussed in this thread before). Without proof, one can say anything. I can, for example, say you personally have killed a thousand people. Is that true?

The government of this Democracy enacts laws based on whatever the people want, whatever their personal views or beliefs. Once again, there is no exclusion of any belief mandated.

You worship God at home don't you? I pay tax on my home. So if I decide to start a PR firm for Santa because I think he is my savior, I get to skip property taxes? What stops anyone from starting a "church" to skirt taxes? Some churches are pure fiction, only a small number are the real deal in my opinion. Tax them all, every way, if they are donating to charity they can write it off so they don't pay anything. If they use the money to build mega complexes, then they should pay. simple

Guy, people have been building large places of worship nearly forever. Some of the oldest ruins on this planet were likely once used for exactly that purpose. Regardless, I'm sure most of those churches have spent far more to help the poor than then vast majority of us. Personally, I don't have a problem with large churches. No skin off my back, so more power to them.

Did you read my comments just 17 messages ago, in message #226? Unless you're willing to rewrite the First Amendment (opening it up to other changes as well - freedom of speech, assembly, etc), you're wasting time arguing for the taxation of churches. Not going to happen.

    this

    short and sweet.

Does TW or XRU own billions of dollars of land and buildings? NO!

So what would you tax? The bandwidth and lines that are already taxed by your service provider?

Bob pays taxes on the income this site generates. Yes, this site makes him money and he is taxed on it.

So asking that all property owners pay real estate tax is absurd? Or that companies that make a profit get taxed is crazy? Churches after all are NOT non-profits.

    It's Skip actually :)

So the money spent building churches wouldn't be better off if it were donated to the poor? I don't care how long it has been going on it doesn't make it right. If god doesn't hear you better isn't it actually a sin to construct such expensive buildings in his name when people all over are hungry and sick? I would think god would rather you feed the poor then pray to him under a roof that costs 50 million dollars.?. Again your arguments lead back to the same things... it has been done forever so it's ok....they have helped people forever so who cares if they ignore the needy and build gluttonous churches.

Any moral person knows that taking money from believers to build yourself a bigger better house instead of using it for the most holy of reasons is wrong. I guess it's hard to break tradition and do things differently then the way they have been done for thousands of years.

Isn't creating and worshiping idols a sin?

I agree some people are hypocrites but my church sells things to give the money to a better cause like charity or a near by needy family. Why should my church suffer because another chose to be selfish. Money means to much to people, you want to attack something then attack welfare or the DOH or the USPS or overpaid government officials...

I am just going to repost the comments I made to you that resorted to the comments above so you can see what ass you look like.

Like I said, I don't believe you didn't come on here to stir the pot.

I don't think think you really posted your opinions, you post 'safe' comments or when you got defensive and said I didn't know your beliefs, then I could easily just page back and find them...but there aren't any real opinions are there?

I don't think you answered the question that I had to repeat several times to you and when I said you googled and copied and pasted your answer that didn't even answer the question I made, you resorted to defeatist tactics (or a broad general insult).

So, yes, if that makes me 'holier than thou' and gives me a superiority complex then I fit the definitions, unlike you and sassy who got me all summed up from a higher plain of understanding.
