I poke fun at you bible thumpers, but thats where it ends for me. I really do respect any ones right to think what they want. Just wish Catholic churches felt the same way.

 

You know its like this, There alot of peeps in here ( this thread) I like and some I dont. But it just goes round & round, not one of us has changed the way we think.. I like Oz a little (just a little) better then before this thread. So guess that is one +,,, but it gets old seeing the same peeps post up some fucking shit they got off google as a way to try to win folks over to there side. Anyway this is it for me Im going to give it up cuz I feel like there is at least one in here that i could get into a good pissing match with but Y....... Jim

I suppose "financially stable" would have been a better choice of words than wealthy.
a little more than half of my property tax goes to schools, I don't have kids.
as previously stated, I did attend roman catholic schools, and I should note that they are publicly funded here and receive similar funds from municipalities as public schools.
the parents of privately schooled kids pay twice (their choice), not churches.
It's safe to say that a majority of poor families have their kids in public schools as they cannot afford $17K per year per child for private school.

edit: another source listed the average tuition of private school at $8500 per year. lowest $1500, highest $30000.

 

I don't have kids either. I was one once tho, and someone else payed taxes for my school system, now my tax money pays for some other kids school system. It is fair even if you don't have children.

 

God speaks through his spirit, its not a literal voice but an overwhelming sense of conscious actions. its like a dream kinda but more vivid and real, you can only hear God if you desire him to be in your life. as for God speaking to a person to be president thats probly not true assuming she hides behind Gods name to manipulate others like a lot of other people, unfortunatly.... i will never claim to be more than what i am, a lost soul found broken along this lifes path, i will give praise to God for he has shown me undeserved mercy and i am eternally grateful for that.
In my opinion and not to take anything away from anyone else but the catholic church is in a bad place they have had many uprising and many secrets brought to light, that being said it bring up the word hypocrite and turns alot of people away.. i try not to preach my beliefs but rather let Christ's light shine through me as best i can, however my escape of this world will only be in death unless im still alive when Christ comes back then to glory i will rise and finally away from all these ungodly things on this earth.

I along with my 4 brothers also went to catholic school, my parents thought it was worth it. I would agree, in the US catholic schools are general geared for college preparation for all. There is no public funding of catholic schools in the US.

It is safe to say that anyone in La Crosse WI where I grew up could get their child into a catholic school if they desired. Parents and students are eligible for assistance with the help of the parish.

I got a great education, which prepared 4 of us to continue on to Engineering degrees. The 1 that didn't go to college is the only one with any faith.

Just for fun I found the tuition rates for my old school system, it is much lower than what you found.

I too was born with a wounded heart. And I praise God every day for the blessings I have recieved.

Many do not even realize that they are living with a wounded heart from things that may have happened during their life...usually as a child. Many also unconscientiously do things or act a certain way to try and repair that wounded heart. Many times...greed, ego, envy, jealousy, pride, materialism, addiction...and others become the way some try to mend a wounded heart or fill a void.

For some...the mercy of Jesus Christ is helpful, because the natural world can not repair what needs spirtual healing.

it's likely that the numbers I found were from private schools that do not receive funding from a church, as the true cost of education from the link above is quite close to $8500.

I acknowledge what you say to be true. however, based on the numbers from the link below, catholic schools account for only 3% of students in the US (total of private and public, excluding post secondary). I stand by my argument that poor families are most likely to enroll their kids in public schools, which is evidenced by the relatively low enrollment in catholic schools.
