    I just had the same issue with my truck.. Its bad axle seals, and with the brake grinding, i had the same issue and it was bad shoes. It was metal to metal which destroyed my drums.

    Oh and changing axle seals are simple.. Just need a seal puller and seal driver. (or you can hammer it in carefully)

    u guys are scaring me! haha my back right drum, or axle or something like blew up! there was oil/greasy liqued all inside the rim and all over the drum and everything! it was quite a little while ago too:eek:

    Haha, just take the wheel off.. Then drum, then the 4 bolts behind the whole axle assembly and pull everything out and the seal is right there :p

    hmm ok. Well once you get the wheel off theres two holes on the outside of the drum that you skrew in two bolts which pushes out the drum. You have to skrew in one bolt then the other and so on until you can just take the drum off. Then theres 4 bolts in the back of the whole axle assembly and disconnect the brake lines too.

    Maybe the rotors are worn unevenly? Although i doubt thats the issue

    When i first bought my taco the brake booster was totally shot and my pedal was almost impossible to push down. I literally had to get both feet on it in order for the truck to even slow down. :mad: Yeah it pissed me off haha

    The grease almost sounds like a blown CV boot. If the CV boot is gone it will sling grease everywhere and will eventually grind because of lack of lubrication. Also, is it a grinding or a pulsing. If its pulsing you look at a possible warped brake rotor.

    EDIT: Just re-read that this was the rear so ignore the CV comment, but the brake rotor could still be an issue.
