a-trac is not bueno in the mud.

all im gonna say is that Luni will beg to differ. he went thru a helluva pit on his stock rugged fails.....and it was cake!!

the pit he went thru....and trust me...it was deep.......

pretty hard to carry any speed with a-trac engaged... all i know is it did me absolutly no good...

 

what does a trac mean? I made it through mud up to my windshield with my BONE STOCK 4 banger with the dunlop ATs haha

 

the a trac comes on the 2wd models.basically a locking rear diff.and yes its hard to carry speed seeing as how theres a sticker on the driver door sayin not to go above 5mph when engaged.least my truck does

I've gone like 45 with my locker on. I'm not sure what an A-Trac is.

 

ATRAC is a system on FJ Cruisers and 09 TRD ORs that uses 2 wheel sensors on each wheel to detect differential in wheel speed on the same axle and apply individual wheel braking to keep tires from loosing traction. Awesome on rocks, pretty good in the mud especially if it's hard bottom. If you give it to much gas you'll power through and defeat the system so it works best at about 2000RPMs.

To get through that mud hole I had the rear locked and ATRAC in the front. Back wheels kept pushing and front wheels kept getting traction and it pulled through.

Yea... bogging is all big knobby tires, lockers, and wheel speed. ATRAC is crawling.
