the seats in my 2010 SR5 were fine...only real differance I feel on the seats in my 2012 Sport is more bolstering.

I keep towels on the seat bottoms so I realy don't feel much different between the two.

the SR5 seat has the fold flat capability, I actually used that a few times.

But, like I posted...the TRD trucks should come standard with LEATHER!!!

I'm okay with mine. I found that the seats that I had in my last car, 2010 Golf 2.5 were way more comfy.

I find my base buckets to be pretty comfortable. best seats I've ever sat on though was in my old 89 mercury cougar, overstuffed, velour, and full power seats.

    Fixed for ya.

I'm not sure why leather wasn't an option. Maybe it's because they always saw the Tacoma as a "young male" vehicle and younger buyers are typically less concerned with those kinds of features. That's gone out the window at this point though...because the economy has been ruined (and probably will be for a generation or so), freshly minted young adults just getting on their feet can't afford 30k vehicles. Maybe it made sense 10 years ago when they were doing the design work. Not so much anymore.

    WTF??

how did you get from leather seats to this post?

#1) leather can be ordered as an option...I said it should be standard equiptment.
#2) cars costing much less have leather standard (yeah, I know it's not Maserati leather...but it's not cloth either)
#3) economy & politics? you actually went there?

btw, "freshly minted young adults" probably shouldn't be buying 30K cars anyway. ;)

It's a dealer add only and only with participating dealers.

Yeah, and they have many less other features than the Tacoma as well. If you don't have the manufacturing costs of 4wd systems and bed utility, it's easy to put standard leather in a base model four banger that just has three boxes and a steering wheel.

Firstly, I didn't touch politics. And yes, the economy is a very big player here...follow the industry and learn...

    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...g-generation-for-2-million-missing-car-sales/

Why not, exactly? If they can afford it, why shouldn't they?

    Agreed on the FIFY.

Don't recall exactly, but I seem to remember paying around 28k for my '03 Tundra. SR5, TRD Offroad, 2wd.
    Cloth interior.
The Limited had leather, and it was well over $30k... and that was in 2003.
Wife's 2004 Rav4 was $24k. Limited... it's got every option available on the '04 Rav4, including steering wheel audio controls and leather wrapped wheel.
    Fabric seats.

    $30k in 2003 = ???? in 2012? There's your break point for available leather.

Remember, trucks are trucks and they cost more than cars. A $30k truck might be comparable in features and "class" to a $20-$25k car.

    :(

I'm just going to take this opportunity to say I really enjoy having you here. Your posts are generally insightful, well-researched, and accurate. Thank you for staying.

Edit: Also, it's even a bit more complicated than just inflation, because the Yen has gotten a lot stronger vs. the dollar in the past 5 years. Toyota wouldn't just need to win the battle with inflation to make leather profitable, but exchange rate as well.

I find it amazing how many people "complain and whine" about other people "complaining and whining" about other peoples complaints.

    :)

Oh, I hate leather seats too!

^^ I find it amazing too, but not exactly sure what it is. Can you explain that again, perhaps in other terms?

My seats are just fine, would like a height adjustment but that's about it. They're comparable to my '11 4Runner....

The sport seats in my '12 TRD Sport also suck. Aside from being uncomfortable, I was amazed that they didn't adjust up and down. I am 6'5" and have to duck down to see the effing traffic light when I am stopped on the line.....LAME!

    Still love the truck though.

Try working in an amulance for a 72-hour shift. That gets fun. Even worse when it's a busy shift and you don't get a chance to get to the station (you sleep in the back).

My seats don't feel any worse than seats from other trucks I've owned. I drove from California to Pennsylvania a couple of months ago and I thought they felt pretty good. I agree with an earlier comment that a height adjustment would be nice. Other than that, they're comfortable as far as truck seats go.

I've had a new 02 and 05 double cab. When I drove the 05 after about an hour my back was killing me. Tried every position possible. Wound up buying 2 Healthy back lumbar supports. worked much better. Sold my 05 4 yrs but kept the supports. Bought an 07 and was driving to San Diego from near Las Vegas and remembered why I bought the supports. Of course I didn't have them with me, so I repositioned myself for 300 miles.

My TRD Sport seats have 6500 + miles on them. Bought new first week of May. No problems with comfort.:D
Tho my wife complains about the "bumps" from the pattern on the seats put on her legs after sitting in seat.
Better than the 09 Impala and 12 Tucson I had before my Tacoma.

Ok so a shit ton of people here don't like the seats. Point established. . So are there any solutions besides putting seat covers that give you swamp ass in? We have airbags in these seats, correct? I would love to put some Volvo leather seats in mine but no side air bags would be a huge trade off.
