Dammit. I can't wait to finish school so I can learn to work on my own shit. I can do the basic oil change and crap but other then that I'm clueless and it sucks.

It has nothing to do with wheeling. Mine were rusted to hell and I never wheel. The problem is Toyota doesn't use never seize or grease when they install them at the factory.

You can tell if they're rusted together with just a wrench. If you jack the truck up, mark your alignment tabs with a marker to make sure you put them back, loosen the LCA bolts and see if you can spin the bolt inside the bushing. If you can't, then you're SOL and need to cut them out.

 

You can buy a brand new lower control arm for $242 from Toyota . New ball joint, bushings .

 

What weight gear oil have you guys used in your diffs? My local vip only had

$28 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90, and the owners manual calls for 75w-85. Trans and xfer case calls for 75w-90 though

 

I think my manual says

$28 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75W-90

So your saying for 242 I get everything and I just have to un bolt the old one and bolt the new one in?

 

As long as the bolts aren't rusted... If the bolts are rusted, you have to cut them out which means you need to replace them also. The bolts are another $40-50 I believe. Otherwise, yes, the new LCA's come with bushings and a new ball joint.

Anyone on here from the south shore in MA? I see tons of guys in my area driving Tacos but none of them are friendly at all lol

 

I work in Braintree and In the summer live in middleboro. Ever see a black lifted taco? That's me

 

There's a couple black ones around here, in Plymouth, most are 1st gen though.

 

Oh ok. I'm 2 gen so wasn't me lol. They lifted at all or stock?

 

Mostly stock ones I see. Every once & a while I see lifted ones, usually ride with Jeeps around here though.
