expensive. Ive looked into it from several different companies and you need to be able to drop at least $1,500.

I would love to do this.

But, I think it dances a fine line of being unethical since I would bet that most the shots on the animals are not well placed. Surely they don't go back and put them down.

From what I understand is that when you go on one of these hunts they will mark where each hog was shot, get a truck to pick it up, and donate the meat to homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

As far as the TV show goes I would expect them to do the same.

That makes sense. If that is the case then it seems good to go. If it were shoot and leave them lay I would see how people get upset since you don't know if you hit it in the leg, ear, nose, etc...

Hogs have been demmed a pest in Texas and are to be erradicated. hence the use of helicopters. Have you seen vids where they take dogs hunting for pigs? the dogs are biting the shit out of them until the hunter can go up and slit the pigs throat.
You cant look at these creatures like you do deer or other protected species. Of course no one wants any animal to suffer but its at the point now where they need to be terminated

(hopefully I didnt sound like a crazy inhumane asshole. Ive been a hunter since I was 4 years old, I know about well placed shots and humane treatment of animals and all that)

I went pig hunting last night but unfortunatly didnt get to shoot at any. Hopefully Ill have better luck next week.

i would love to do that!

but i do understand the implications this type of show could have with the public. it is very "in yo face".

pig problem? i wonder. i do know several texas ranchers..they trap them from some problem areas, truck them to their hunting ranches and let them go...if they were such a problem, i am sure they wont be moving them around like any other commodity. and i have YET to get invited to a FREE hunt for problem hogs..it is always, "we have a hog problem!! for $200 a day, you can hunt them!" i did get on orchid farm in houston to invite me..but they got some show to do the work and got PAID!

and i have searched..i have never found a "hunters for the hungry" game processing place to take hogs. venison only.

I understand the need for it and that's part of the reason why I would love to take part. I was just saying that is borderline. If I am hunting anything whether it is bird, deer, hog I would still feel better knowing it wasn't walking around for a week with a gunshot to the foot or something. Don't worry, I am not a PETA hippie I just like to make well aimed shots.

Now if they were Tali's that would be ok...

I saw a video on the show and they said its up to the property owner what they want done with the hogs. If the owner wants them picked up they do that but if he wants them left where they are shot then they do that as well.

I wouldn't see any reason to just leave them rot though that doesn't make sense. But lots of things don't make sense.

    happy hunting :infantry:

Where we hunt we dont have a "problem" but we do have a lot of pigs. We have in the past been on ranches that did have pig problems and you could see the obvious crop destruction from them.

once pigs get to a certain size they are no longer worth eating. The meat will taste shitty and its not worht the time or money in proccessing it. The small ones are great for roasting though :D

This explains why the roach coach at work has carnitas everyday. I want my own food truck called "Bacon Scratch Fever" with a full wrap of Ted and some kills!

On another note, my buddy in New Mexico used to get a six pack for every prairie dog kill he got on the farms...haha, how's that?
