My '09 was out of warranty by 3-weeks and Toyota was going to "graciously" allow $500 towards a $2000 repair. The spring change would have stiffened up the rear end and really made the ride harsh. So, I added these (http://www.hellwigproducts.com/products/load-control/medium-duty-helper-springs. EZ-550) I tow with a 200lb tongue weight and these have been great without making the ride harsh.

Save your money, buy these and take the 30-minutes to install them.

PS: Sorry but I made a mistake with the tongue weight. It's closer to 300-350 lbs.

My 2012 SR5 AC came with 4 springs (3+ overload), it seems to vary a lot across the board without much rhyme or reason.

My 2010 had the TSB 4-leaf rear springs done
My 2012 came from the factory w/ the 4-leaf rear

I have not experienced a harsh ride with either truck

yea, tried that one with the dealership. this truck had been in 'aridzona' before i had it and now it's in the SE Utah desert. no chance for rust around here. guess that's a good thing.

at first i was going to try a 'band aid' for my suspension problem with a progressive AAL. but now i realize i need to just do it right and replace the springs with the latest and greatest from allpro or ARB or Wheeler or Alcan or General Springs or....or....or....

I had mine done a couple months ago. I guess I lucked out with my dealership. I just told them it hit the stops with a load and had a bad ride. No questions asked.

I liked the "post" ride much better. It was a bit stiffer but felt like it should. No more bounce when going over things like railroad tracks. It handles loads much better to. I know the 4 leafs aren't great and will sag sooner or later but better than the 3 and if you can get it done under warranty, why not. I don't think I'd consider paying for the job.

Thanks for that idea, I checked out advanced auto and they have a set of Superior springs that look just like the hlwigs except th aren't painted. They only cost $45 so I might try them out. Do you notice any change in ride with these?

I haven't noticed any change in unladen ride nor any sagging/rough ride etc while towing or with a load. The Hellwigs are operating just as advertised.

I put the advanced auto helpers on and not much of a noticAble change in ride unloaded. They do help the sag when there's a load in the bed but I still think its BS that Toyota wouldn't fix my crappy stock springs. I got a load of wood today and it's near the bump stops and swayed a bit on the way home but the helper springs really did help.

Here's a picture, how heavy do you think this load is? It is a full load of split oak, even with the top of the bed.
