In western rural areas like in NM it is very common to see rifles in truck rifle racks, as well as every day folk carrying a sidearm. You mostly see them on ranch trucks or any one who's day to day keeps them away from greater civilization. Coyotes, wolves, bobcats and bears present problems out here, rattle snakes are a concern as well. You won't see it as much in the cities such as Albuquerque or Santa Fe, but every else is literally the wild west.

    Sub'd...

I don't have a holster, but my Glock 30 fits b/w the seat and center console quite snugly. I put it in my console vault when I'm not in the truck. I'll add pics later today when I get back to the truck.

It is, but there are a lot of dumbasses in Santa Fe still. Out west is just one of the few places where a gun is still a necessary tool for a lot of people's jobs, not just law enforcement, and that humans aren't even the primary concern.

In NM you can't have a firearm in an establishment that sells hard liquor period, and only in restaurants if no more than 40% of their business is from alcohol. Signs stating firearms are not allowed also have the power of law, but there is greater good case law.

Yes. I use one of their drop leg mounts and have a MOLLE adapter they offer with a XST holster. I know you can buy the modular disks separately, so it'd be easy to put one in the console or anywhere else for that matter.

Great kit, and great folks too.

I just lay mine in the storage bin in front of the shifter. If I go in somewhere that denys concealed carry I have a vault that is bolted under my bench seat that is made for a Jeep wrangler that I lock it in.

Posted earlier... But I keep the Glock 30 (.45 Auto) b/w the seat and the console. When I'm not in the truck, it's in the console vault. I also have a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 in the vault for concealed carry.

Shield .40 that lives in the vault:

I'm not up to date on all the different state laws for this but would a good shoulder holster work? I admit that it's a little easier for me as I'm LEO but also gotta say I have no concerns about folks who go through the trouble of getting a CCW. Criminals who want to shoot me are gonna have a gun regardless of whether its against the law. Keep carrying, I may need your help one day!

I've carried a firearm for many, many MANY years and have been in several arguments. Nobody ever got shot. I never understand why some assume that more firearms means more people getting shot just because.

SC law says "Closed Container" if it's not on your person. The interesting bit is that you can keep a rifle in plain sight.

I'm trying to figure out how to mount an AR under the back seat in my truck without too much cutting...

It doesn't have to be part of the vehicle.

A integral fastener can be a zipper of a gun rug, velcro, or anything else that snaps shut.

    For example, http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lock-and-Lock-20-Piece-Food-Storage-Set/13863684

That meets the criteria of "a closed container secured by an integral fastener" Don't over complicate what is there. Laws are always grey, and if you keep asking for clarification, they will eventually change it so it's more clear and restrictive.

Are you a member of SC Grassroots? http://www.scfirearms.org/ There's lots of SC specific gun law there.

PM Me if you need any further help. And hiya to a fellow Upstater

Winch, front hitch, step bars, bed extender, bed step, gull-wing toolbox, tailgate lock, security system, cb radio, etc.
Wouldn't a compartment inside the locked vehicle qualify as a "closed container?" I lived in Myrtle Beach for years and simply kept my handguns (when not on me) in either the glovebox or center console.

The center console, with fastening lid, would seem to meet those requirements.
