If you're referring to my comments on the civilian carrier it's just meant the non full auto kind. Also called an AR15 carrier vs m16 carrier or semi and full etc. They were originally made for the AR15 and touted as a civilian model M16 and had the civilian carrier as we civilians couldn't have full auto.

RDAIS, yes....sears no any one can purchase a sear for an AR 15....drilling the sear pin hole is the problem. Until then they are just parts.

We can also. I was just trying to explain the use of the term while walking through an airport via iPhone. CA has very few limits on AR15s if you can stomach a bullet button. I am jealous of the can though considering I hunt in Texas. I could get my SOT and can get one but not about to pay that yearly ca ransom fee er state fee.

    Yup.

The ARFCOM article speaks of the BCG, but to my knowledge, there is no issue with the M16 BCG. The legal issues are with the FCG components.

And those are federal laws... not California laws (if they were California laws, ARFCOM would pretend that they don't exist, not unlike they pretend that California doesn't exist).
The only difference is that in California, a non-LEO can not get the permits to allow the possession of an SBR (or full auto). The only NFA items that a non-LEO or 07/SOT can obtain are AOW, using an NFA trust.

Semi-auto, there are only a few restrictions, primarily surrounding specific named receivers.

An SOT can get cans as well but it's just not worth it.

And yes you are correct I was wrong. That was a CA issue not ATF. Thanks for the correction.

Thats my full auto Sendra M16 in the pic. I do sales for a 03 sot as a hobby. The only thing private citizens can not own in Indiana is a Short barrel shotgun. Our way around that is the shotgun aow's.

Love the happy dot on that thing. Someone tried to tell me there was a M16 A1 they knew for sale for 15K. I told them I would buy it that night. Of course they never came around.

Actually, No. If you own an AR15 and do not have an M16, the BATF considers having the selector, autosear, and auto trigger "Constructive Intent".

    SBRs are different NFA territory.

Funny you should post a Sendra. I had to explain Sendra to someone the other day when they asked about a pre '86 Bushmaster full auto lower....

    A. Nope my RDS is on correct and yes I have about 1000 rounds through my system.

    B. Not when you have friends who are USMC armorers.

    C. Used it - Loved it!

    Same style setup here....

CA is so strict it is ridiculous. I keep several rifles that my buddies in CA have but legally can't keep in state.

    Here are some more pics

Rev - what do you mean by this quote? do you mean solid stock?

The legal way to make a post '86 conversion is to obtain the proper FFL and SOT (And possibly have to pay ITAR). If you do not go through the proper channels, you know...end up in the federal pokey for anyone who touched that rifle.

Trust me, You don't want to be caught with an illegal machinegun.

An NFA Registered M16. Has nothing to do with what stock is on it. If you are in possession of the fire control group, but do not have an M16, you cannot claim that they are spare parts, and show intent to build an unregistered machine gun out of your AR. Unregistered drop in auto sears, lightning links, etc. all fall under "constructive intent"

    Yup.

    Same as a short barrel.
When I put my (pinned and welded) 16" together, I was buying parts as I could afford, then took everything in a box to Riflegear to have the upper assembled and the Vortex pinned and welded in place.

Before I ordered the 14.5" barrel, I had to build up an 80% lower that could legally be configured as a "pistol". That gave me a legal use for the 14.5" barrel.
That lower went with me to Riflegear to avoid any potential of Constructive Possession issues.

And this is something that people don't think about.
Example, you want to build an AR but don't have one. You see a killer deal on a Grip-Pod, so you jump on it.

Oops. Your Glock and XD9 both have rails. You now have a rail-mounted VFG but no long gun to mount it on.
    Constructive Possession of an AOW.

Now to add this... The BATF isn't going to knock your door down for "constrictive intent" but if you got tagged for something else, they would tack that kinda thing on for ancillary charges. Its really hard to prove intent.

That said.. Rich, do you have to use one of those goofy grips?

    Ya....

Got a killer deal on it, slapped it on, hated it. Glad I checked it out before doing the camo paint... went with an AFG instead.

It's on the AR22, will likely just toss it.
