(To the mods. I posted here in order to get some feedback from our members and since there isn't an established selling price yet, I didn't feel it qualified for B/S/T per the forum rules yet. As soon as he releases a price and is officially selling them then I'll be happy to move it.)

Alright folks, I have a good friend that has started his own company predicated upon a cool product as an add-on to trucks, especially our Tacoma's. I thought it was a pretty cool idea and I wanted to help. I figure most TW members will dig it since we all do a lot of outdoor activities and such. I am going to be getting one for myself during the pre-release sale which is coming relatively soon as they are in the production stages at this point. We are just curious how many of you would be interested in this, what you think about it, and if anyone would be interested in buying one. The buzz I can generate from you guys will help in determining how many to initially produce.

Edit: 09/13/2012 The website is officially up and running. The "store" section will be up and running soon as units become available. http://www.thespraybox.com/

EDIT: Additional info added to bottom of this post to help answer questions and to provide additional details.

Note: The pictures above are prototypes which he did testing with. Some changes, for the better of course, have taken place and improvements have been made based on testing/feedback.

I've attached a video to give you an idea of what the product is and what it can be used for.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJlVpAmY-48

For those that do outdoor activities like fishing, camping, off-roading, boating, tailgating, etc. (all of us basically) ;) the Spray Box will be a great addition to our Taco's. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me or you can check out his Facebook page/website. The link is at the end of the video. Via the link there are more pictures and videos related to the Spray Box as well information as to how it operates, etc.

    EDIT: Additional Info added:

The Spray Box has a 10 Gallon capacity. It also has an auxiliary water tank port option that will allow you to connect an extra water reservoir if needed.

The Spray Box's usage rate is 1/2 gallon per minute @ 100 PSI.

This equals 20 minutes of continuous spray from the 10 gallon tank.

There is a 5" diameter "screw on" fill cap on the top of the box. There is also side mounted drain plugs on both sides of the box to drain it with. The Spray Box can be mounted on either side of the truck bed.

It comes with a wiring harness that connects to the vehicles 12v battery in the engine compartment. This is where your power comes from. It hooks up basically the same way you would hook up fog lights are any other 12v accessory.

The box you are currently seeing in the photos I have posted is a proto-type model. The production model will have a customizable diamond plate skin that will improve its appearance, allowing you to match your truck and it's accessories current color scheme. Search the Facebook page and you can find a drawing of the production model. Pretty cool looking!

Ok here's the deal. It mounts to the side of the bed rail using two steel mounting brackets, which are included with the purchase of "The Spray Box". However be advised that at this time, it was designed for general purpose outdoor activities, and the mounting hardware may not be quite enough reinforcement for the extended jarring and bouncing associated with off-roading, mud bogging, and extreme trail riding. That's where a little creativity will help in adding a little extra reinforcement for you off-roaders. I have no doubt in TW member's abilities to be creative. I see it everyday on here!! [IMG]

Let me know if you guys are interested and I can get a list going.

This is awesome - my dad made something like this years ago for his little nissan pickup. He had a 10 gallon plastic container with a small pump and motorcycle battery. I would be very interested in something like this. I looked up the site, looks like it's on a facebook page. What kind of pricing are we looking at?

Glad you guys like it. I thought it'd be a good option for us. I'll check on pricing. Not sure if he's 100% decided on a price yet. I'll let you guys know as soon as I do.

Ok Guys, direct from the designer/creator here's a rough idea of pricing.

"The Spray box will be in the same price range as a mid-sized Yeti cooler. Somewhere around $400. I use commercial grade sub-components such as a Shurflo pump and Flexcoil coil hose. The price may seem a little high, but you get what you pay for as far as quality goes."

As far as I'm concerned, and trying not to be biased, this is an opportunity to buy a great product made in the USA and in support of a small, start up business started by a fellow truck and outdoor enthusiast. More info to come.....

Great idea. This would work really well for cleaning off your radiator after going through a ton of mud in order to not risk over heating on a long drive home from the trails. I dig it.

Just a few questions you might be able to help with:

    What capacity would this have?
    How is it filled?
    Installation and wiring details?

All great questions! I'll attempt to head this question and I'll forward them on to my buddy in case he has any changes or anything to add. (These answers are from the website/facebook page only. If there is any misinformation, I'll correct it as soon as I hear of an error):

    1. It's a 10 gallon tank capacity, spraying 1/2 gallon per minute works up to around 20 minutes of spray time @ 100psi.
    2. Checking on this one. I'm assuming you fill it up via a hose prior to heading out on a trip assuming you want fresh water.
    3. Power Source- The Spray Box connects directly to the vehicles 12V battery using the included 25' Spray Box wiring harness.

    hope this helps-

About 8.35 pounds a gallon plus pump - a full tank will add another 100 pounds or so to the back. Shouldn't affect handling much. I've seen a flat rectangular water tank that goes on a baja rack. It was black and would heat up water during day.

And if you can mount it on the passenger side, it should offset the infamous taco lean.

Not to be johnny rain cloud here but $400 seems kinda steep for something you wouldn't use that often. Couldn't you do close to the same things with a $15 hand pump garden sprayer?

Great alternative to a full on board water system. Wonder if I can buy two and put distilled water in one for drinking out in the desert, and the other wash off my truck and myself. This is also great for surfers.

I'm thinking this would be a great GB product

Great idea on the distilled water one. It's like a camelbak for a truck. ;)
