    Why not?

    Real answer: Build time. Icon was currently out of stock of the smooth bodies. If I'd gone smooth, it would've taken about 4 weeks to get the new bodies in and get the shocks built. They had threaded bodies in the shop and could have my shocks built and shipped in 4 days.

    You can make the argument the threads act like radiator fins and allow for better cooling [​IMG]

    Incorrect. Cutting through the bed is what I'm trying to avoid.

    Edit: Also worth noting: Straight up and down mounting is not a 1:1 ratio with travel, as the axle moves in an arc when stuffing or drooping. That said, it's probably close enough it wouldn't throw your measurements off too much as long as you build a little (.5" or so at either end) error into the shock travel.

    Really, interested to see that then, as It seems as with other members' trucks that anything greater then a 12" Shock is too tall to avoid cutting or ridiculously wide spacers to avoid contact with the shock body,:notsure:

    I understand that, just for the sake of simplicity it is to be considered 1:1 when mounted vertical orientation, but it is worth noting :thumbsup:

    Nothing special...the bars have a flange on each end that mounts flat against the bedrail track, each with two bolt holes. T-nuts in the bedrail track, bolt/washer through the drilled flange, mounted bed rack.

    The longer the travel of the shock, the longer the compressed length of the shock. Once you get to a certain length, you have to go into the bed to fit it on the truck at all.

    You see this a lot on long travel setups.

    you getting some shock hoops or new mounts made?

    without shocks in and lifted via shop lift, my eye to eye extended was only 26"...

    You're not going to fit anything larger than about 10in travel in the stock mounting locations.
