I tried driving around with the cat-back exhaust off on the 2nd gen. Sounds like a nice diesel engine but the lack of back pressure makes the truck lag so much on acceleration. Kinda feels like you are towing an extremely heavy load.
The 84' without the muffler sounds nice and loud. Kinda like it. Might put in a dump when i want it loud. Didn't feel much of a difference in acceleration.

I feel no diff in accel or mpg just lost little low end. I jut can find a muffler I like. I wish I could make it sound like it is but a quieter version. Not sure how to accomplish tht. Maybe a 12" vibrant resonator

I don't want the aeroTurbine haven't heard a video to convince me. I am almost set on a magna flow. 18" just so it will be quieter but not sure. Guess I will check out wicked flow. Is wicked flow a turbo muffler or chambered?

Do you want it to be that quiet? An 18 or 22 will be pretty quiet. Wicked flow is not chambered. It's a strait thru design. Did you listen to the videos of my 13 inch?

and If I saw you park I would probably shove an orange in your tailpipe dude. Why would you want to be annoying?

For guys who don't want to get shot... heres my 18" magnaflow. Just the perfect balance of roar, but you let off the gas and you'll never think you had an aftermarket.

I put a vote for other as i have the 18" wicked flow and it sounds good. Not loud at all at cruising speeds but when you get on it you can tell its not stock. to be honest i thought it was a little too quiet before i had headers but now with headers the 18 has really come to life not a lot of rasp really. Sound wise now its probably close to where a 13" would be normally without headers imo.

I haven't installed an aftermarket exhaust yet, but I have a question for the TRD catback guys...

That chrome tip. Ugly as hell in my opinion. Is it easily removable so I can make it black? I'm not sure if it's welded or attached like if you were to purchase just the tip (heh) for the stock exhaust. I can't find much info about this because threads concerning just the tip (again, heh) cloud the search. Thanks!

I would agree with you. When you are going for a dark out truck the crome does not help. I have seen some ceramic black that folks have applied to their pipes. Same stuff you would see on a header. And you can choose a black color.
