Pop N Lock + Hose Clamp. DTRL, AFE drop-In Dry filter, 6-1/2" Replacement Speakers, JVC HD Radio, Sam's club variety Floor mats (cheap but effective), Chrome Exhaust tip, Bed Mat from ol' Ford Ranger. As of 3/25/2020, the Odometer just turned 70K.
I checked the Crutchfield web site and it said that only 5-1/4" will fit the factory cutout for the Access door speakers. I want to go with a larger size speakers for bass and what not.

Can I use the 6-1/2" Diameter speakers? Any good recommendations? I like Pioneer or Kenwood (trying to stay within $100 max.)...

    Thanks.

I know I will need an adapter for the speakers. If 6.5" will fit, then I may just get the speakers from Crutchfiled despite what the Crutchfield web says. I want the free adapters and speaker wiring harness...

6 1/2s fit on ********* mounts. I suspect that crutchfield says 5 1/4 or whatever because that is what the mounts they have made is designed around. It would be cost prohibitive for them to have mounts in every possible size, and if they use the same mount in other vehicles that are designed around 5 1/4" speakers then that is what they stick access cab taco owners with.

Having never seen the included crutchfield mounts perhaps they could be modified to take 6 1/2" speakers though.

As for speakers I have always been happy with pioneer ts-a series speakers. I believe the current model number is a 1672R for a 6 1/2" speaker.

Pioneer speakers are the best choice for the money in my opinion. Go with the ********* adapters and you should be fine with mounting 6.5s.

    Hi,

Just checked the price on Crutchfield and the Pioneer TS-A1672R is $79.99 + $7.00 shipping. Also checked Newegg.com and they are $49.00 with free shipping.

Guess where I clicked? Now, I need to secure a pair of speaker wiring harness. Where can I get them? Does Scoche or Mitra carry speaker wiring harnesses for 2007 Tacos?

I realize that I can get them thru ********* with the adapters. But if I do not get the ********* adapters, is this something I can easily pick up at Circuitcity or Walmart???

If anyone know the Scoche part # or Mitra part #, that would be a great help... Thanks..

Hey Khfactor, you can put 6 1/2'' speakers and or components in your doors. You'll have to modify the brackets from ********* a little bit. You can check out the pics of my install for suggestions.

I ordered the pioneer TS-A6972R 6x9" and the TS-A1672R 6.5" from radio shack for $60 and $50 each. This compares to $100 and $80 at best buy, curcuit city, and crutchfield. Ordered the Taco tunes mounting kit as well. Let you know how the install turns out. I plan on keeping the stock 6-disk head unit which I understand is Pioneer as well. Anybody know for sure? May install a amp. later but will decide after the speakers are installed. Later

I am also interested in adding an AMP to the stock 6-CD headunit. If you get this combination, please let me know what type of Amp you got and how you hooked it up. Pictures would be great also....

    Thanks:)
