Thats just what a guy told me when i bought all my stuff. He use to work for the railway and installed dual antennas on all the rig trucks. He said its "best" to mount it in front of the cab with the shortest coax cable possible. When its mounted behind the cab the radio waves can get interfered with the cab electronics. You wouldnt be able to tell from your end but others may have a little trouble hearing you. But i cant confirm this, just what he said

nah we think its a grounding issue.

 

To be more accurate, yours is above the cab.

What Ian is referring to is when the mount is at bed level. Yours is 2 feet higher than that. This raises the ground plane. On mine, the ground plane is the hood area. On yours its the roof of the cab area. At least this is my understanding of how these things work.

There is no doubt that your setup and my setup worked together very well. Makes me wonder if there isn't more to it, more than just antenna location.

 

I had a little too much fun at the ORV park the other day. I was doing a hill climb and little to my knowledge there was a 6ft drop at the top. the truck went into the ditch, knocked off the drivers fender flare, dented the drivers side rocker panel and torqued the frame.

Anybody else getting excited for hunting season coming soon? Been driving early every day and seeing 50 elk and quite a few deer, plus its a good reason to go driving

 

hunting..ahhh i miss it..haven't had time for it in like 4 years tho..

 

I'm going to be lazy this year and just rifle hunt, not enough time for me either

 

Can't wait for hunting season, september through june thats all I will be doing!

I would be more excited but as usual the military has bad timing so between it and school I don't get to deer or elk hunt this year I don't think. Hopefully I can squeeze some bird hunting or rabbit hunting in somewhere though
