I have the blue sea fuse block and a circuit breaker (for my amp, not even for the fuse block... need to get one for that too) mounted on top of my oem fuse box lid. had so many wires that if i ever needed to check anything inside the oem fuse box i'd be screwed. I also have some relays in a water tight radio shack project box, but this thing looks like it can replace the blue sea fuse box and the relay box, and make it a whole lot more organized.

I ripped out the grille lights and the hid headlight bulbs, so thats 2 sets of hid wire harnesses that i was able to get rid of.

I also want to make room for kevin's dual battery tray and will need room for more wires.. and winch wires...

 

also I'd like to move this onto my priority list...

well we got caught in some heavy rain on the way home. actually felt really good and i was completely dry by the time I got to my house. my wrists hurt, neck hurts, legs have 1st degree burns and blisters from the heat of the engine, back hurts, ass hurts, knees hurt, legs hurt.


but it was a good ride.

Baloney....you ever get sun burned on the water? Or issues when wheeling, everything has its ups n downs, but warm roads equal better traction, smoother cornering, just nice riding fall has leaves on the ground and spring has road debris from whatever they put on roads for snow and ice. Summer is optimal riding time.

 

Alright so I've been planning and collecting stuff for when my lemon law case is settled. The court date is September 19th, so I'm still hoping they decide to settle before then, but I really don't know what to expect now.


Anyway...
I purchased the aux relay/fuse box in the post 2 up from this one.. Which will handle 5 relayed circuits and 5 fused circuits. Since I'm sick of the mess of wires I currently have coming out of my blue sea fuse box and multiple relays, this should help clean up the engine compartment and the inside of my dash a lot.

I also got colored wires for the relayed circuits, and when it's time to wire everything up, I'll use a label maker to help label all the wires and keep it organized. For wire management and protection I have a lot of different diameter split wire loom as well as braided wire sheathing. For wire termination I will be soldering and covering with heat shrink then taping with color coded tape. To run wires through the firewall, I have 2 daystar firewall boots. For these I need to drill an inch and quarter hole, prime and touch up paint it, and pop the boot into it, then seal it with silicone. These will allow me to run up to an inch diameter of wires or whatever into the cab. For the driver side I'll be drilling just below the large firewall grommet with all the Oem wires. There should be just enough room to install the boot and get a good weather tight seal. On the passenger side there is a lot more room, but I think I'll try to use the same spot as an Oem firewall plug, but just open it up to the correct size.

When I put my front bumper back on I'll be installing 2 7" kragen hid lights on it.. However since they have an internal ballast that sticks out 4" from the back of them, I'll have to get creative with mounting them and might possibly need a satoshi grille for some extra room. I will also be mounting 2 advmonster led lights on the bumper.

I have a few sets of weather pack connectors for all the lights so I have nice weathertight quick connect plugs incase I need to remove the bumper again.


Yesterday I played around with mounting locations for the relay box. I'm leaning toward using the passengerside fender well above the air intake hole, tight to the backside of the washer reservoir. This will give me plenty of room to be able to change air filters, spark plugs, or tie back the intake box to clean the maf sensor and throttle body.

I'm just trying to think what else I'll need to squeeze in the engine bay, and all I can come up with is the solenoid for a winch. Since I still don't know what winch I'll be using, I don't know how much room will be needed, but I think the passengerside fender between the abs controller and air intake hose should be sufficient.


If anyone actually reads through all of this and can think I anything else I'll need to put in the engine bay, please let me know.

Will eventually add ATO dual battery tray and a dual battery kit, but finding room for that shouldn't be a problem... Right?

Yea man tell me about it.. I've got wires everywhere. Can't wait to rip everything out and start fresh.

 

I need to also but with school and work going on I probably won't be able to until next summer. It's pretty obvious what are the wires I ran when I first started learning and which ones are more recent as I get better. Haha
