Replacing STOCK Suspension and New tires Advice!

Hey guys looking to replace my stock suspension soon on my 01 Tacoma Prerunner. Was looking for advice on what to get, or how I should go about it, meaning should I buy a whole system at once or go on a easter egg hunt for all the parts.

Sick of seeing my truck with rake

As some fellow TW members already told me it can be solved by replacing the stock coils with new ones but since im replacing them anyway why not do the rest.

Also I wanted to get some new tires so figured I get the suspension first then the tires. Budget is about 1500$ for suspension and 650$ for tires.

Tires debating about it still. Want to run 33's but need clearance first hence the reason why im doing the suspension first. But maybe I should just stay with standard 285/75R16 with 16X8 wheels. Brand, leaning towards Wrangler Duratracs , or ofc the obvious picks for most of us the BFGoodrich AT's.

This truck is my daily driver btw and Im frequently on back roads and highways most of the time when im driving. So I believe my suspension and tires would be a good investment. Any reccommendations, thoughts, or opinions you have feel free to share. Id rather have a bunch of opinions and ideas that I can bounce around to come to a final decision on this. Thanks guys!

 

The suspension you have chosen is very nice. Be advised that if you need to get your coilovers rebuilt, and you likely will, you will be without a truck for a period of time while you send them out for the rebuild.

My advice would be to not get the 285/75/16 tires, I installed them on my truck and while they look great, they are the worst thing I have done to my ride. If you want 33" tires, get the 255/85/16. They are just as tall, but way more narrow. There will be fewer issues with fitting them. Unless you need a 33" tire, stick with a nice 32, like a 265/75/16. You do not lose much ground clearance and they fit with no trimming or rubbing issues.

255/85/16 sound exactly what im wanting less headache also. Do you have a brand you would reccomend btw? Thanks for the help!

 

The 255's are only made by a few manufacturers. BFG offers them in the KM2 mud terrain, but not the All Terrain T/A. 98Tacoma, above, has that size on his Tundra, but I cannot remember the brand.

He could also get the Treadwrights in 265/75/16. They are cheap as hell.

 

Im assuming around 800$ as well? Not that it matter's much either but how is the noise with KM2's on? Ive heard the Duratracs are pretty subtle from TW members.

 

Realiable? I dont mind spending the extra dough if I have to on KM2's. I just tried to set a budget for myself. Realistically I have about 3500$ to spend with my backpay for ot at work these past few weeks. Rather still put some into savings for later down the road. But ahh what the hell lol

 

I would look at a full OME setup and get the KM2s. Great setup that you will not have to fuss with and you save a little money.

You should know that I am biased as I run OME.

 

I keep looking at those KM2's and the more I look the more they grow on me.

I read your 1st gen suspension thread awhile back, great thread btw. I have a wheelers near me actually in downtown. How much would the full setup run me? Your DIY is pretty informative helps out alot since I wasnt planning on taking it for someone to do anyway so thats a plus if I can work out something with Wheelers!

Probably wont get the tires till next month. Trying to get the most out of what's left on my Michelins. Amazing tires. Been on my truck about 3 1/2 years now.
