This may be person specific but I need advice. When I bought my 2011 Tacoma, I was told that I could do my own oil changes. I don't like people working on my vehicles, so that's what I did for my first oil change. Now, I wrote down the KM's I did the oil change at, what brand I used.. the whole 9 yards. Question is... did I void my warranty?

The reason I'm asking is because I am due for my second oil change now, and I don't know if I should do it again or go into the dealership and get them to do it. If I do go in, do I tell them I did it myself? Or lie lie lie and hope they just continue on without a log of my first oil change.

    Suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Kyle.

I highly doubt that would void your warranty unless the engine broke due to you not putting in enough or or over filling it, or filling it with pudding.. Lots of people refuse to let the dealer touch their trucks.

Do you own oil changes, you just need to keep track of the receipts and mileage done. Warranty remains intact.

I dont have a receipt for the purchase of my first oil change, went to canadian tire, bought what I needed and scrapped it not thinking. What do I do then?

You are still fine, there's no way for them to disprove you changed you oil unless it is blackened. The receipts are kind of like a fall back kind of thing.

Not having one receipt or "missing" an oil change still won't void the warranty. Make sure from here on out you save every oil purchase receipt and maybe place it in your Maintenance Guide when you write down the miles/date

Yeah, I have a proper maintanence book Ive been keeping up to date. It has my last oil change in it, all details minus the receipt. So, I should be okay.

Here's another off topic idea. Would a new exhaust flange back effect my warranty? You guys obviously paid more attention.

Yeah don't worry about it, keep changing your own oil. I had Toyota replace my drive shaft u-joints cause I forgot to grease it and they didn't say anything.
