Kids graduating today are not as prepared for adulthood as kids just a few decades ago. Many today cannot adequately read, do simple math, or tell much of anything about history, science, geography, and so on.

By the way, my wife eventually quit teaching (not worth the effort). She now works for the DoD, earning roughly five times as much.

Meanwhile in NY they're requiring ALL students to take Regents level classes and do the Regents tests. So if you're not smart enough to pass the Regents you either fail out or drop out.

Nieither did i, Class of 2009. We stopped all artsy type things in like 7th grade... The rest of the time it was reports, written tests, written projects and lectures and Csap type tests.

Must be an Alabama thing. My wifes a teacher too who taught/teaches Elementary, Jr High and High School both here in NC and back in NY and I think she suffers from stress more than the students do when she teaches grade levels that are either state tested or regents(NY) as poor test results reflected very badly on the teacher. If it were like that documentary or you state she wouldn't have to give a sh*t about test results on state given tests because at the end of the day it wouldn't matter.

I have back problems...knee problems...arthritus...terriable hand joint problems...broke both ankled this May while building our new home...

All because I've worked my ass to the bone in construction for 40 years. Everyday I use pain meds because of the ankles...I have to wrap them both...use heat treatments...etc...

Some days, the pain is near unbearable...but I keep pushing.

I also keep paying through the nose for health ins for my wife and I. And recently was denied a new cheaper coverage through Florida Blue (BC&BS) because of my ankles.

I would NEVER give up my freedom and become incarcerated for medical coverage.

Good point ... getting old ... it the truest "WTF" of all ... ... I have few aches and pains from the military and life in general ... but I keep on going ...

I would not go to jail for medical ... just move north to the "Land of the Oz Man" ...
