    this guy got beat by the cops...true, some believe he was strung out and resisted arrest (most agree he did not deserve the beating he got)

    for sure he caused a lot of trouble...riots caused a billion in property damage...53 people were killed...thousands injured...

    and in the end:
    he falls in a pool and drowns...

    (AP) Toxicology tests showed that King had a blood-alcohol level of .06 and amounts of PCP, cocaine and marijuana in his system, the captain said.

    "Mr. King was in a state of drug- and alcohol-induced delirium at the time of the terminal event and either fell or jumped into the swimming pool,"

    He was awarded 3.8 milllion for the beating in a civil law suit...and blew it all. Personally, I think he was a trouble maker who cashed in...sadly, he did not turn his life around.

    I pray his soul is in a better place.

    Let it go, it was a long time ago. Sad event in our illustrious history. Millions of addicts out there, he was no one special.

    let what go?

    I feel bad for the man. yes, another sad event in history...all around. maybe we could learn from it.

    should we let 9-11 go? Vietnam? WWII?

    let it go?

    I wasn't attempting to make context, I was only responding to your post...and although your point is well taken, I don't believe we should "let it go".

    many lessons there. unfortunately, many will let it go...and miss the learning experience...and rince & repeat. :(

    I did not post this up to open (or re-open) the debate over Mr. Kings beating and the riots...

    My intention, after reading the AP autopsy news this evening...was to say how sad it is...

    the man obviously (and factually) had drug addiction and alchol isssues...was given help...awarded millions of dollars...wrote a book...became a small time celeb (oprah and the talk show circuit)

    and unfortunately did not (or could not) turn his life around.

    but hey...sometimes money and celeberty only makes matters worse. God knows there are more than a few of them in the grave. :(
