Heard a guy on the radio say that we export more fuel outside the U.S. than what we actually use. He said no matter how much refining/drilling/fracking etc..we will still have high prices because they will just export more.

Not sure what the guy on the radio was talking about, but the US has had a trade deficit in fossil fuel energy for 3+ decades now. Import/Export of fuel is continually tracked by EIA and data freely available to the public. Right now the US is importing over 10 millions barrels of oil/fuel products per week and never exports more than 3 millions barrels over the same period, so best case scenario we run a deficit of 7 millions barrels/week.

One exception: US exports a lot of LNG, but this is due to arbitrage and not domestic demand imo.

If anyone else is interested in the gas statistics: http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_wkly_dc_NUS-Z00_mbblpd_w.htm

$3.49 for the last month here.

If you only gas up once every 5 weeks it really doesn't matter. One lunch costs more than a weeks worth of gas.

Gas companies have made it clear that they are Global Corporations. It doesn't make sense for them to sell gas for cheap just because it's AMURICA
