greasing the front bearings on the taco. Can anyone help?

I need to grease my front hub bearing ..got a 96 taco.4x4. 'ike to play in the water so I need to grease the front.. i i have the lock where i have to get out and turn the center of the front wheel dial to go into 4x4.. do i go in from there?

looked threw that url but couldnt find/open anything that was helpful. Is there any articls about gresing front&rear wheel bearings on a 4x4 sr5 99 tacoma?

 

Sorry im still learning, so i dont ever have to service the front bearings? and how often do the rear's need to be greased?

 

I don't think that is what he is asking. Not the bearing itself but the needle bearing in the hub assembly where the axle shaft goes in.

well kinda but all looking to do is grease my bearings because i will be going to school in a month and wont have much access to tools so basically just trying to prevent any bearing failures....

 

Change the rear differential lube to take care of the rear axle bearings. That is all that you can do unless a bearing actually fails. No way to lube the front units.

 

so other than changing the diff fluid i dont have to grease the bearings unless they were to fail right? (at that point id need new bearings)

 

How many miles on her?
I have 163k and bearing has never been replaced(from what I know).
For toyotas if it ain't broken it don't need fixen.

 

Ive got 169,000 and the gear oil is changed fairly regularly


ya i hear ya there but i just want to prevent any problems from ariseing due to regular matenience be skipped cause once i leave for school i will only have access to basic tools and would have to do any work in a parking lot

the 05 and up have a unit bearing. The gen 1 tacos are pressed into the spindle and the manual locked hub assemblies have a needle bearing and two brass bushings that need to be greased. That assembly is pressed into the bearing.
