My 1997 Jeep TJ is very tired (210,000+miles/ 4banger). What if I could put a toyota motor in it. I was in the shower when it hit me, what a great idea, I thought. I really want to put a VW turbo diesel in it but that = $$$$ (yes it can be done). Would a Toyota motor be possible? 1st gen, 2nd gen? Thoughts, opinions, suggestions.....discuss.

This I know (not from experience). What if I could get a wrecked whatever (1st 2nd gen) and totally remove everything, and put it into the TJ. All the guts and gizmo's, almost like putting a jeep on a toyota frame (sorry if i "offend" anyone, we are day-dreaming here).

Go for it. I'd like to see this!!! Drop an entire Taco driveline in it and buy a new driveshaft. Don't forget the ECU and all the guages and everything else that connects to it.

Yeah another jeep motor would work, but thats all it is another jeep motor. I want something better.

No V8. Not worth it. I want to stay in the 6 range. When it all boils down, an inline 6 will probably go in (yes another Jeep motor).

A VW diesel? Good luck. They barely run when they're in a VW.

I thought of the Vortec. But I was wondering if I could get it ALL from a Yota if it would be feasible.

HAHA. I just thought a little turbo diesel would push a Jeep pretty well.

not sure about the laws in south carolina, but i know for a 50 state legal engine swap the engine has to be from the same manufacture the vehicle is made by

I didnt think the round headlights and fuel filler on the side started untill 2000. My old 95 YJ had square headlights, and fuel filler behind the license plate.

I have been out of the Chrysler thing for a while..lol:eek:
