I had to replace my differential it broke when engaged. Don't use above 5 mph

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Necro thread...people have had the rear riffs in the ORs break w/o being locked as well. It's an OR thing, not a being locked over 5mph thing. There are a few of the 05-08 sports w/ the mechanical LSD that have blown a rear diff as well, but much more common in the ORs.

slipping LSD is a lot different than a blown diff.

i've hit close to 70 with mine engaged. (although i wasnt actually going 70, just slingin 70 mph worth of mud) but as soon as i got out of the soup i turned it off and mine still works fine, i do stop to engage and disengage, no need to chance anything breakin because of that.

Yup. if you are on pavement and you have 2 wheels turning at the same speed in the rear and you try to turn your turn radius is great reduced due to the lack of "skidding" of the tires. you will actually hear the tires chirp while turning. Ive accidentally had it on hopping on roads for a mile or 2 to hit the next trail and you can definitely feel the truck fighting you to turn.

Ive gone even faster locked :anonymous: prob round 80

When the diff is locked, it restricts the wheels on each end of the axle from spinning at different rates. This makes the vehicle resist turning.

I drove 700 miles home at highway speeds up to 75-80 mph with my rear end locked the entire way, BFE Moab to my house in Reno. I had a blown side gear though.
